All these British Gas adverts are so cringe and are portraying him as a blithering idiot!

whatever people’s opinion of him it feels really disrespectful

eta I’ve just realised the ads are so bad I didn’t even realise it’s smart energy it’s advertising and not BG!!

Oh it's suppposed to be Einstein is it?
I thought it was rather odd using Worzel Gummidge...

It's alright, he was cremated and doesn't have a grave. Fun fact: when Postmodern Jukebox do covers of deceased artists their cadavers regularly exceed 20,000 rpm, comparable to a Formula 1 engine.

Ha! I wonder if his family are bothered (or are they making money from it?). I guess most of his surviving family wouldn’t have really known him

I also find it quite offensive. They are making a mockery of a brilliant scientist.

The "small print" in the ad indicates that they have to use his likeness by permission of his estate, so possibly it does make some money. It's also quite possible that his family are blissfully unaware of what anyone uses him for and it's all dealt with by lawyers.

I read the title as Epstein and was shocked that he would be used in an advert (lol)

BeardySchnauzer · 22/10/2026 21:58

I just read that and was about to link!! I’m surprised they aren’t a little more picky about how he’s presented!
