We are cutting back on expenditure and decided to move our phone and broadband, which is currently with BT.

I have been on the phone since 8pm and still havent got it sorted.

I fianally get the right department, which is supposed to be open till 10pm and guess what they are closed

They wanted to charge me £98 to cancell origionally, I have spoke to 7 people, 2 in india and got the charges dropped.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

YASONBU

Who are you moving your phone to if you don't mind me asking?

We've just had our latest BT bill. 40 calls costing just over £20 and a bill of £70

TheMadHouse · 01/07/2008 22:18

Evenhope - we are renewing both our mobiles with orange and doing broadband and phone package too.

Saving £27 a month on all the bills

We have just also saved £30 a month on sky.

We are economising

I thought you meant me at first

I'd like to know as well, we currently pay for out calls through Tiscali, who provide our broadband but still pay line rental to BT. We can upgrade to a tariff on Tiscali which will cover the line rental so won't pay it to BT but am reluctant as Tiscali can be an absolute nightmare when they go wrong!

thisisyesterday · 01/07/2008 22:20

not unreasonable at all. BT ar epure evil. I would gladly pay double what they charge just to have no BT line.

actually, atm we are with virgin which is great.

staffylover · 01/07/2008 22:30

Virgin are wankers as well!

BigBadMousey · 01/07/2008 22:36

YA definitely NBU

They are the epitome of shite poor service

CasperGhost · 01/07/2008 22:55

I agree!!!!!
Two sodding weeks it took them to fix my home hub.
It doesn't help that I have trouble hearing what people say, and I am loathe to admit this ... please don't flame me, but ... I can't understand what is being said when I am on the phone to India. Which makes me more frustrated.

BigBadMousey · 01/07/2008 23:02

Casper - I have that problem too. Some people I can understand but others have such a strong accent that I can't. I feel really awkward asking them to repeat themselves..

SparklyGothKat · 01/07/2008 23:05

I hate BT too, I thought that I would have to stay with BT as there is no Virgin media lines here (new build) but Sky phoned me the other week, and said that they buy the line from BT and then I pay Sky for my line rental and call. So no money goes to BT at all.... yippeeee!!

CasperGhost · 01/07/2008 23:05

I know what you mean, it seems rude to keep asking them to repeat them selves, its not their fault that I struggle to understand them but its either me struggling to hear them, or dh ranting at the poor person. Awfully difficult isn't it.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 02/07/2008 00:36

Don't mention BT to me! We finally switched last year to talktalk, and no problems so far (touch wood!) Even if there are, at least we are paying less to get a crappy service. I have so many complaint letters written to BT (the last of which started "Dear B***d Telecom")We had hundreds of problems, and, as others have said, no help whatsoever from their overseas call centres, who basically don't give two hoots. I had to actually write on several occasions to get ANYONE to address my problem and look into it. Not so "good to talk", better to write!

thelittlestbadger · 02/07/2008 21:56

BT blow goats. Absolutely rubbish. Our phone went wrong last year and they said small call out fee. £180.00. Gits

Tinkerisdead · 02/07/2008 22:03

Can i join this rant as i just left BT as my employer....i HATE them for all the reasosn that you guys placed on here. i was a senior customer service manager and i just couldnt stand the shite service i was cornered into delivering for them.

take it from me, they believe india provide better service than the Uk branches and wont listen that customers find the language barrier an issue. their costs are horrendous and when they started charging in term charges, direct debit processing fees and late payment charges i left as morally it went against everything i stood for. charging elderly ladies and low income families for not using direct debit... is wrong!! arggghhh i hate them and next week i have to go to industrial tribunal to defend them and i cant get out of it. im sure posting this could get me sued or something but so be it!!

Tips to complain, do not write to their main office. call 150 and demand a manager. they will put you through to a coach, demand a manager not a coach. the manager has a centre manager, demand their name. when you have their name get their office address and phone number and write to them directly! dont bother with chairmans office or you'll be put back to a centre manager who will write a response for the chairman! Just get to the centre manager and keep hold of their details!!

Fimbo · 02/07/2008 22:08

We had to pay £125 to them last year because our house was new build and there was no phone line. The excuse I was given was that it was my contribution towards the trunking from my house to the telephone exchange. I told the builders who said it was a load of crap as they had done the trunking. It also took them 2 weeks to connect me and I received £10 compensation as they are only allowed to compensate you at £1 per day for every day you are without a phone and that does not cover Saturday and Sunday!

UnsafeRambler · 06/07/2008 01:37

I will never have that company in my house ever again.
They sent me a bailiffs letter for £1.25.
For a bill that was made up of rental, BT charges and VAT

Now I get what I pay for. Am with talktalk. £25 a month. Even free calls to the USA, free broadband lumped in, and I get Nectar points.

BT switched my line 'on' when I moved here. Discovered the last tosspot living here had cut the cable. BT wanted £80 to fix it!!! So it was cheaper for me to buy pliers, cable clips and 10m of phone wire and do it myself.

BT....Bastard thieves
