I’m 33 and still do want them but everyone is now assuming I won’t. I mean I know I’m not young but

Why are they assuming you won’t? At 33 you still have time.

cupwithyellowflowers · 22/10/2026 16:58

You have loads of time!

Who is assuming this? It was only once I got into my 40s that people stopped asking me about my marriage / children plans. And I mean close to mid 40s!

In my 30s everybody assumed I was going to have them and wondered what the hold up was.

Pinadaqx2 · 22/10/2026 17:01

Just ignore these people. Are you trying to date currently?

Sittingonthefence83 · 22/10/2026 17:01

33! I thought you were going to say you were late 40s, you’ve still got loads of time. Who are these people?

midnight4 · 22/10/2026 17:03

I wouldn’t bother. The world is ‘going to hell in a handcart’.

Credittocress · 22/10/2026 17:03

My mother assumed I was “passed” having children; was bloody horrible to me for a number of years and then we had our first when I was 39. Quite the attempted row back, but it was apparent the only motivation was the grandkids

PinkRavenh · 22/10/2026 17:09

My mum and grandparents mainly but don’t I guess could be because they mostly had kids in their 20’s and my mum had an unexpected pregnancy at 32 but I do remember she used to say how old she felt etc

It's perfectly normal to have children in your mid to late 30s. Why on earth are they making assumptions about your life plans?

You have time to have children but obviously not years and years.

What is your relationship status? If you're single and you do want children then you still have time but you do probably need to focus on what you want to achieve in a relationship and doing your best to make that happen.

If you have a reliable partner who also wants children then it would probably be worth setting your timeline to make sure you both have similar life goals.

It's no one else's business though.

My age when I had each one of my children.

Ignore any negativity, I know it's hard but just follow your own path ❤️

You must spend time only with a small group of people who had their kids in their twenties. Thirties and older is the norm amongst people I know.

Pinkflamingo10 · 22/10/2026 19:06

Who is assuming ?!! Ignore them. None of their business anyway. You’re young !
I just had my third baby the week after I turned 44

Maray1967 · 22/10/2026 19:43

33 and almost 41 for me.

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 22/10/2026 19:54

You'll get people on here claiming "everyone they know" had babies from 38 -50.

I wouldn't presume, at 33, that you wouldn't have children. It's not particularly old but it's not particularly young either. Just a normal, average age.

And I say this as someone who became a grandmother in her 30s.
