Ask B&G if they want MOH speech and if so how many minutes, then you’ll know what kind of space you have. I’ve been MOH twice and didn’t have to do a speech thankfully. I gifted money to both.

We have absolutely no information to go off so unless you want a completely generic and impersonal gift/speech, you might need to provide some more details.

Keep the speech personal and not too long, when I did mine I focused on three topics, told a story for each, 2 funny ones and then one that showed what a wonderful person the bride was. It was a lesbian wedding so I said how beautiful they both looked and then did a toast at the end.

I gave a voucher for £100 to both of them for something for the home but then gave my friend a little box with their married names carved into it (to keep cards and wedding stuff in) a bottle of champagne, picture album of funny pictures and something we wrote when we were teens about what we thought our partners would be like and a handkerchief with her new name embroidered into it in blue.

YOU'VE never done this before, but you expect US to help with absolutely zero information? 😳

Keep it short!
Ask AI to give you an outline, but NOT I repeat NOT to write it - it's really not as funny as it thinks it is, and the wording will not sound like you.

But it will give a good suggestion of how to plan it e.g.

  • thanks for inviting to be maid of honour
  • brief explanation of how you know bride
  • funny anecdote/line - does NOT have to be long, could be as brief as 'bride looks so beautiful, much better than at the end of the hen party when she was dancing around my living room in her pants,' or whatever.
  • nice anecdote
  • best wishes to b&g (or b&b)

Gift I'd go mainly money and then something small/thoughtful on top - again you know her best and whether she's a 'thoughtful ideas' or 'what a load of tat' person, but there are lots of ideas on etsy, etc. I did a christmas bauble of a photo of the two of them for my friend as wedding was a similar time of year, for example. you can get lots of personalised stuff but need to get a move on as it has a longer lead time.
