Is 2 nights at Ragdale Hall enough? Husband think I’m being unreasonable

Hello — looking to book a break at a spa hotel. Decided on Ragdale Hall and have booked a 2-night stay but wondering if that is enough time to enjoy all the facilities or if I’m better off extending by an additional night? Husband thinks one night is sufficient but I’m feeling really burnt out from work and could really do with the break! He thinks booking 3 nights is insane. AIBU? For people who’ve gone, how long have you stayed and what was enough? Thanks

I could happily move in, but I found for me I needed 3 days to really relax and try a number of treatments

Yestheysawmecoming · 20/10/2026 22:57

Two nights is lovely, but three nights is lovelier … 😆

happydays312 · 20/10/2026 23:01

Beautiful place …. Only go for days … would love to go overnight! I guess 2 nights is 3 days so I’m sure you’ll be fully relaxed by the end of it!

Smartiepants79 · 20/10/2026 23:04

How much more does it cost and can you afford it?
Do you have young children who will miss you or work that you will be taking time off from??
If you can afford it and it has no real impact on anyone else then do what you fancy. You’re not going to get bored!

GaaNeen · 20/10/2026 23:06

Absolutely sumptuous place !
stay as long as you can afford !!

BeSharpHelper · 20/10/2026 23:07

No idea , but my mum went for a day, one day and came home with a new face!! It was incredible, she looked like she’d been sanded, polished and buffed. It was years ago and I can still remember how amazing she looked. Go for a week !!!

fuck all those things op, the kids can miss you and so can work and so can anything else . Everybody is allowed to put themselves first occasionally.

One day is not enough. The food is great, as are the treatments and the facilities. Go for as long as you can.

AlexandraCarrington · 20/10/2026 23:15

Two nights should be the minimum length of time to stay anywhere, so you have one full day with no travelling.

If you can afford three and your other commitments allow it, why not?

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 20/10/2026 23:16

I would do three nights otherwise your travelling time eats into it too much. Whenever I have a short break I always make sure it’s a minimum of three nights.

I agree but those were the only reasons I could come up with as to why her DH would care about how long she wanted to go for.

Tortephant · 21/10/2026 08:18

Two nights. Arrive lunchtime leave mid afternoon.

personally I’d be bored, is that the basis of DHs strong response to your suggestion?

mamaduckbone · 21/10/2026 08:52

I’ve only ever been for a day and it’s wonderful but for me 2 nights would be plenty. I think I’d go a bit crazy for any longer (but then I can’t even afford one night there so I’m unlikely to have the opportunity to find out)

Connachtfive · 21/10/2026 09:47

I’ve been for 2 with friends. I’d LOVE to go on my own. 3 nights would be absolute bliss. If you can afford it, do it. Rest and relaxation is the antidote you need x

rbe78 · 21/10/2026 10:57

Ok, I thought your husband was being unreasonable until I saw the price of a room! £830 a night - you could get a week's holiday somewhere amazing for the price of two nights, let alone three! I'm on team husband I'm afraid, two and a half grand for a weekend in a hotel in England is madness.

LittlePetitePsychopath · 21/10/2026 11:01

I've never known anyone go for longer than one night, most people do daytrips. That said, I'd bet two or three nights would be lovely.

If you've paid anywhere near £830 a night, though, I'd stick to two. It'll still be incredible.

And when starting price are almost £600 per night for a 2 night stay, then it becomes a bit more than putting yourself first occasionally unless they are very well off.

ginasevern · 21/10/2026 14:18

If you DH thinks one night is enough then it doesn't sound as if he wants to go at all. Is money tight or any other problems?

not everyone can afford to fuck the cost tho. perhaps rich DH is tight, or perhaps not rich DH is sensible.

Enough for what?

Most people will go for the day or a night or two at most, for various reasons but if you want to go for 3 nights and he wants to go for one, two sounds a good compromise.

Or is this not about the length of spa break at all but the usual story about inequality in your marriage in relation to money, personal time and division of labour at home?

66babe · 21/10/2026 15:31

Ragdale Hall is absolute bliss
Def stay another night and have another treatment if you can afford it
2 nights will be relaxing , very nice but 3 be even better

Aligirlbear · 21/10/2026 16:01

Honestly, I think this is it. I do the fair load of the childcare and taking care of the house whilst working full time and I’m so burnt out and unhappy. We’ve agreed on me going away alone for 2 nights with an early check in to give me a break and there was a decent deal on offer but I need to have a conversation with him about how he needs to step up because I can’t do it all. It’s too much.

We’ve decided for me to go alone for 2 nights to get some good quality R&R. It’ll be £390/night with all meals included, spa access, and one treatment. I’m very excited.
