YANBU I predict you'll lose about 7lb virtually instantly.......

nickytwotimes · 01/07/2008 19:28

Bless you!
If it's any consolation, my disappeared when he reached 9 mths - 1 year and got mobile.

Twiglett · 01/07/2008 19:29

I lost 3.5 stones with birth and first week for an 8lb baby .. does that help?

wheresthehamster · 01/07/2008 19:30

Yes, the pounds just drop off - it's the 2 stone and extra chin that won't go away.

Ecmo · 01/07/2008 19:31

you will lose lots of pounds..babies are very expensive

scorpio1 · 01/07/2008 19:32

i found BF amazing for loosing weight!!

Sitting down with biscuits not so good.....

scottishmum007 · 01/07/2008 19:33

F**k, wish I had lost 7lbs instantly!! I breast fed for 7months, and only AFTER I finished breastfeeding did the weight start to just drop off.

scottishmum007 · 01/07/2008 19:35

I was really impressed by everyone saying to me 'you'll lose all that extra weight once you breastfeed'. Yeah right. Won't be taken in by that again!
Works for some mums, but not everyone sadly. Just depends on your metabolism.

I lost a lot more weight, more quickly when I had my second child, because I was running around after a toddler, as well as looking after my newborn ds, who always seemed to need bf'd when I was about to sit down to eat, and I carried him around in a sling more too... but I didn't put on as much weight in my second pg either....

OatcakeCravings · 01/07/2008 20:00

I put on 4 stone in my pregnancy - baby is now 4 weeks old and I've lost 3 stone so far.

narkymum · 01/07/2008 20:02

I still had not got my celeb body back from last one

OP posts:
Twelvelegs · 01/07/2008 20:03

I thought bf just helps contract everything, but no!! It was only I had stopped bf for a couple of months that I got back to my normal size.
Has anyone told you about the afterpains??

notnowbernard · 01/07/2008 20:05

GIve it time

My body shape has completely changed since having dc

Was size 14-16 pre dc, am now 10-12. Wierd.

But did not lose preg/baby weight until about 8m after birth

narkymum · 01/07/2008 20:12

Oh don`t worry I know all about after pains, get worse with each one too will be packing my heat up wheat bag very good for that so it is.

OP posts:
Twelvelegs · 01/07/2008 20:43

Tell me about heat up wheat bag, does it help.... c-section drugs help reduce them a tiny amounnt but they were awful after dc2, not after dc3 but I'm dreading it this time.
Did you visit your neice and is everything okay?

narkymum · 01/07/2008 21:42

yes all sorted now family eh?
ok, the heat bag works well or it did for my last few. Put lavender oil on it and sit up with it on bell. First few days I always try and get a suppository (sp)and as much co prom tabs I can scrounge. Also do deep breathing especially through bf. Bloody hurts though dreading that more than labour.

OP posts:
narkymum · 01/07/2008 21:43

oops that should be belly , should have no need for bell!

bf will use it up

DontlookatmeImshy · 01/07/2008 21:54

Bfing worked quite well for me but what really shifted those last few awkward pounds was once ds1 got mobile. Unfortunately looking after 2 of them hasn't helped shift the extra lbs after having ds2. Still bfing though so maybe they will go when he stops. I did reaqd somewhere you do hang onto a few pounds when bfing as a 'reserve'

narkymum · 01/07/2008 21:56

bf makes me hungry. I remember my friend commented on one of my babies cradle cap, it turned out to be hob nob crumbs where I had been chomping whilst feeding

cupsoftea · 01/07/2008 21:59

lol narky!!

snowleopard · 01/07/2008 22:00

My average-sized friend had a baby and breastfed and lost loads of weight. She actually looked emaciated. (meanwhile she had the fattest 6-month-old I've ever seen - it was like her DD literally sucked half of her away!)

So it can happen! - but it's genetic probaby. Funny how it always seems to be the case for skinny celebs though...

LuLuBai · 01/07/2008 22:05

I'm still waiting to lose the weight. Gained 4 stone with DD and lost 2 stone giving birth (9lb baby and a lot of fluid and other associated gubbins - BIG placenta etc) slowly lost 1 stone over the following year (bf for 10 months). And now just got pregnant again - still carrying nearly a stone from last pg. Doh!
