D&V

My nursery sent a message saying they have had an outbreak of D&V and it affected staff and children. I then got a call saying I had to pick up my lo as he was ill. Turns out he had a poo that was slightly soft. So I lost a days wages and he wasn’t ill.

aibu in thinking they could have been lying?

They might’ve had d&v within the staff:
not then had the staff to children ratio :
then panicked at any slightly soft poo and sent a load of kids home.

I know it sucks

That’s frustrating as soft poo is not diarrhoea.

They said it was staff and children but as I wasn’t allowed inside then who knows.

You are being unreasonable. They shouldn’t take chances with a D&V outbreak and rightly so.

If there was d and v….

Of course there was D and V why would they lie? They have to declare any outbreak (which is 2 or more people) then they have to send letters out in accordance with Public Health outbreak protocols.

They may have been over zealous with your child, but they have to be careful. An outbreak for them may mean the nursery is closed which will have a bigger impact.

in all fairness sometimes a soft poo can be the start of upset stomachs
outbreaks of d and v are a nightmare for places like nurseries hospitals etc
to me its understandable considering the chaos d and v causes
