To not keep my day free waiting on flakey friend?

I'm off work this week and made loose plans to meet with my friend. "Let's meet up next week" sort of plans. Nothing concrete.

Didn't hear anything at all this week until I sent her a funny reel yesterday. She asked me what I was up to tomorrow (today), and said we should meet up. I said what about xyz or I could come to her (30 mins away) if it's easier? She read the message and didn't respond. This was about 6.30pm last night.

Today she messages at 11.20am and says "I'm free at 1pm". I didn't see the message until 12.05pm. By this time, I've already made my plans for the day and don't really feel like changing them!

then you tell her you've already made other plans for the day because you hadn't heard back.

no big deal - does it feel uncomfortable to you? is that why youre asking?

I said exactly that, and she sent me a snarky message back. So I was asking if IABU to not hang about waiting?

I am able to meet you at noon tomorrow. If I don't hear from you before 9 am tomorrow I might make other plans. Have a great night!

Implying that she didn't believe me and that I was just avoiding her.

I didn't offer an alternative which is maybe why she's annoyed.

you offered 2 options when you messaged the night before, though?

it sounds like mismatched expectations - you shared vague intentions last week but you didnt follow up on it until she mentioned in in reply to your funny reel yesterday. If you were both on a day off then it's both reasonable to want to make the most of the day by getting a plan sorted the night before, and equally reasonable to want a lazy morning. Or, is it possible that she is not in a good place and that's why shes responded in a paranoid way?

depends on the context of the friendship + what you want to do next, but assuming you actually like her, I'd say "don't be daft, of course I did that's why I suggested 2 options yesterday. Are you ok?"

Just tell her you'll need more than 1 hr 40mins notice next time
