DH has messed with my phone

Small thing really, but it's given me the rage. For some reason, DH has taken it upon himself to rearrange all the Apps on my phone. He says to make them in alphabetic order, although only about half are now in alphabetic order.

Previously I knew where to find them all, for eg. Vinted was always on page 3, top left, Whatsapp and Messenger were always on page 2. I now can't find anything easily, and I know it's a first world problem, but I'm feeling enraged that he would mess with my stuff like this!

I've tried but can't seem to do it. Now when I want to check my whatsapps (from customers) I can't even find the Icon.

Go in serach part and type in the app you need not ideal but easier and will take you to that app

Use the search button to find things, then change your password to something he could never guess (eg a memorable date or event before you met him) and never tell him what it is.

LTB, he's a psychopath.

OCD +++

Omg get a new smart phone today. Will help you be independent sooo much I could not live without my phone. (literally had the NHS app so my consultant could contact me instantly when I missed prep for surgery. I recommend YouTube premium subscription with the YouTube music and an Xbox that will really piss your husband off lol

Sorry but if you can’t even rearrange apps on your phone I can kind of see why your DH feels like you might need help.

Edited

Maybe, but surely ask her first??

CloveRinse · 16/10/2026 11:01

Sherararara · 16/10/2026 09:18

I think OP would need to ask her DH how to put a password on it…

Why do you keep mocking OP's IT skills?

WithTwoGiantBoys · 16/10/2026 11:02

That is weird behaviour, is it out of the usual run of things for him? Is he controlling? If he is then would be concerned that he has installed something and hidden it, or is doing something he doesn't want you to find out about - thinking of that woman whose husband was cheating and he blocked OW from her socials to try to keep them separate.

Topseyt123 · 16/10/2026 11:04

Why did he have access to your phone anyway. Why did he feel he could just pick it up and do things? This would infuriate me

DH and I did know the pins for each other's phones if we thought about it but I never used his phone nor he mine. That was a boundary of personal privacy.

DH died a few months ago and the DDs and I have had to use and rearrange much of the stuff on his phone so that we can use it (probate, needing some family and friends' details etc. ) and make sense it, but before that it was a boundary we didn't cross. We've only done it now out of absolute necessity.

But she can't remember where they used to be........

Doesn't matter as she's not the one who moved them.

BandyUrnham · 16/10/2026 11:14

Do a factory reset on his phone.

brunettemic · 16/10/2026 11:24

It’s a ridiculously dick move but given you can’t even more the apps I can see why he might think you need some help with tech 😂

Greenscreennightmare · 16/10/2026 11:25

I've voted you nbu but honestly, you say you can't find anything - if they're alphabetical surely you just... find them alphabetically? So WhatsApp will most likely be on the last page as it's W?

thenightsky · 16/10/2026 11:28

SoThatsTheWayItIs · 16/10/2026 09:11

I think this is the tech equivalent of being a "spoony fucker" in the kitchen.

100% this!

Do a factory reset on his phone.

She wouldn't have any idea how to do that.
She'd have to ask her husband how to.
Oh wait

blondeseaside · 16/10/2026 11:53

I've figured out how to move the Apps now. I was kind of swiping before and they were bouncing back, now if I keep my finger on them they do slide to the next page. I'm trying to bunch them into categories, but it's taking forever!

I have no idea why he thought it was ok to mess with my phone! We have no secrets, phones often just lie about, which is fine. Nothing nefarious going on, I think he just thought he was being helpful.

Like the other day, when he hung up the washing, but every item was folded in half, so I had to rehang it all. Or when he stacked plastic boxes on the draining board to dry, but stacked them tightly together, so only the bottom one was getting any air. 😬

I think I might start a light hearted thread on the male psyche.

Change your passcode and do not give it to him.

Are you quite sure that's all he's done? Be vigilant going forwards.

use the search function! Why has he got access anyway, is he reading your messages?

He didn’t ask?! I’d go nuts. We don’t have secrets with devices, but bar installing Android Auto as a ‘surprise’ (which meant I had to upgrade my phone 🤬) he wouldn’t dream of messing with my phone.

GloriousGoosebumps · 16/10/2026 13:05

I’d have killed him and I’m only half joking. By the time I’d finished with him he’d be too frightened to touch my phone for any reason at all.

If your dh has so much free time that he can rearrange the apps on a phone that isn’t his when he hasn’t been asked to, then you need to find him lots of (useful) jobs to do! So start making a list.

Also put a passcode on your phone and check whether he’s installed any new apps.

blondeseaside · 16/10/2026 13:11

There are definitely no new apps. I have now rearranged everything and told him not to change a thing!!

Sounds like weaponised incompetence with the laundry and washing up. I’m sure he’s competent and capable at work?

You would think so, but some people are genuinely clueless and have no common sense when it comes to seemingly obvious tasks. I know this, because I live with my incredibly intelligent but occasionally gormless husband 😂

Goaliestar · 16/10/2026 13:37

He's clearly a moron.
Put a good pin on your phone.
Stupidity is so unattractive.

Good work. I occasionally take screenshots of my phone pages so I can put the apps back in the right place if I delete one by mistake or something, or move them around without meaning to.
