That this type of car seat should not be advertised anywhere, especially Mumsnet

I don't believe its UK approve standard, nor properly tested.

It absolutely does not meet the UK legal standard and I think you're right, there's no safety standard in the world they do conform to.

They are used in Russia and Asia apparently - places where there either is no requirement for car seats to meet a legal standard or the standard is poorly enforced. One of the consumer agencies did a crash test of one and they just fall apart. Complete death traps.

Report the ad to MNHQ - you can do this via email or Site Stuff.

Looking at the website, it's going to be one of those where if there's a problem, you have to pay to return it back to Hong Kong.

YANBU. I actually expect better of Mumsnet.

Reported to MN.
Not sure how much control they have iver adverts.

Thanks, @Diddleydo43 we’re on this now. It’s a programmatic ad, which means it has been served automatically through an advertising network rather than being individually selected or approved by Mumsnet in advance.
That doesn’t make the concern any less important and we're looking into preventing it from appearing again. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. For future reference, if you post on Site stuff for things like this, we'll see your thread much faster. Thank you.

Brilliant, thanks. Wish these ads were illegal, unsafe kids seats grrrrrr.

I'll try to remember Site stuff for next time.

That website looks well dodgy - the header talks about "British heritage", but the addresses are in America and Hong Kong. The website has a definite AI gloss to it rather than looking particularly authentic. I wouldn't buy from them regardless of what they were selling.

Hi @Diddleydo43 , just to update: we've now blocked this advertiser across our ad platforms, so you shouldn't see their ads on Mumsnet again.

You're right that a car seat which doesn't meet UK safety standards shouldn't be advertised here. We have filters to stop this kind of thing, but occasionally an ad slips through, so reports like yours really help.

If you spot any other ads that concern you, please post in Site Stuff with a screenshot and the link if you can. That lets us track it down and block it quickly. Thanks again, and thanks to everyone else on the thread for flagging it too.
