Vinted dispute

I sold a dress on Vinted new with tags.

I sent the dress in the condition I purchased it from the shop. There were two zips on ruched material so some care was needed to zip and unzip. The buyer has sent pictures of a broken zip. I sent the dress with zip zipped up so no way the zip was off track as they suggested. They have asked for a refund and if I agree and get a return, I will now have to accept a damaged dress I can't resell.

Whilst this is annoying in itself I'm more annoyed about the way Vinited have handled this. As a seller it's like I had to photograph everything to within an iche of its life and none of the communication I had was supportive of me as a seller. I had a photograph of the dress zipped up.

In fact the last message I sent was that I just have to accept this and they responded yes.

I sold to someone with no selling or buying history. I have a history of 180 packages buying and selling items with a 4.8 review. I'm not saying this should matter but I really believe the dress was damaged by the buyer trying to zip it up or they didn't like the dress/didn't fit.

I could understand if this dress had been at the back of my wardrobe for years but it was tried on days before selling.

Additional info-I purchased for an event but then found another dress that better suited me. The dress was £50 new. I tried it on at the shop and once more at home. I didn't return the dress as shop is 20 plus miles away and I picked up it on a day out to a large shopping centre.

Is there anything else I can do?

Gentle bump for you. I haven’t done any Vinted disputes.

Thank you. I've sold/bought over 180 items and never been in this position. I've received a couple of items not as described and have been able to come to an agreement. I've also sold one kids item the wrong size (by 6 months) and offered a refund and to keep and another item that had been in my wardrobe for years that was not as I thought (tiny issue but still as not exactly listed I agreed to refund. This one is different and I feel i''m the victim of some sort of scam.

Vinted is utterly useless at resolving disputes. Unfortunately, you have to accept it unless you try to further escalate it but in my experience they don’t care.
As a buyer once I bought a bundle from a seller. The seller only sent half the bundle. She lied and said she sent it. I lost my money.
I wish there was another platform that provided a better customer service!

There is another platform - ebay! I use it for both buying and selling and their customer service is excellent, you can call and speak to a human and I've found them to be very fair as both a buyer and seller.

I would just tell vinted that as you can see in the picture, this item is brand new, and you have even shown a picture of the zip in perfect condition, and it is clear that the buyer has damaged the item through carelessness.

I think that you will get your refund OK since you have a clear picture of it undamaged and especially if you used decent packaging etc.

Sometimes it takes a while but I'd be surprised if you don't get it back.

There's various platforms to buy and sell clothes, but this poster was asking about Vinted.

We've all heard of ebay and I'm glad it sounds like they're less shit than they used to be.

I’ve changed my name for this…

I bought something counterfeit (by mistake) on Vinted. Vinted did absolutely nothing to remove the seller and arrange a refund. I

I escalated it to their Legal team… who similarly did nothing.

In the end I reported it to Action Fraud and my MP. My MP was brilliant and sent me a few emails and logged it with the relevant Minister; Kate Deardon, Minister for Consumer Rights.

Anyone who has bought something where Vinted has failed to act appropriately, especially with counterfeit goods, I urge you report to your MP, so the issue can be raised, and hopefully eventually Vinted will be investigated by the Government.

Mumsnetters may think this is an overreaction but counterfeit items are of lesser quality, impact UK revenue streams and have potential safety concerns (as seen with the recent online dumplings). This impacts the British economy and society with loss of tax revenue, as well as potential employment right breaches. Vinted, who makes a profit on goods sold should be taking immediate action and investigating online counterfeit sellers, and working with the police, as well as offering purchasers a refund for counterfeit items, especially as buyers pay an insurance with every purchase.

I will no longer use Vinted, as I believe they enable and are complicit in crime.

Vinted usually blame everything on poor packaging.

There is no protection on Vinted. I got someone's £250 shein haul instead of my pre loved dress. It took over months of complaints and emails to legal to get my refund dispite sending very detailed photos of peeling my table off this shein haul. My dress would have been 500g. The parcel was 6kg! I feel bad for the shein parcel person. Inpost could not give one shit and I donated it all the charity the moment I got my refund. I hope they didn't also loose out. Theres no way I could posted such a hugely heavy parcel onto them. But inpost had their address and all details to send it on

BeardySchnauzer · 11/10/2026 23:05

Yeah I’m currently in a dispute because the delivery company mislabelled the parcel and sent the wrong thing. God knows who has my parcel. Vinted have said the delivery company have 35 days to respond🙄. They wanted photographs proving I’d sent the right item - not sure if I need to photograph handing over the parcel in future

it’s the only time something has gone wrong in my 75 sales and tbf it’s not Vinted but the delivery company, but it did put me off.
