YABU - beautiful town one hour from most friends and family, lots of culture, no local friends, good schools, could afford a semi-detached with a big garden and parking in an average area

YANBU - as above except two hours from most friends and family, some local friends, could only afford a very small house without parking or garden in a rougher area

Why do you dislike your friends and family so much?

I don’t, they live very rurally and I don’t have a career that’s compatible with living there

I miss my home town and would love to be close enough to go there more often 😔being an hour away would enable day trips rather than overnight stays

So where's the dilemma? Bigger house in a better area, closer to family vs small house in a rough area further away from family.

The bigger house is the one that’s two hours away from “home”
