To be delighted I'm retiring

I will be retiring from my coal face NHS job in April 2027. Ive done nearly 40 years, full time except for my preganacies and short mat leaves (5 months longest at that time). Im just finished, I have nothing left to give. My mother started on about 'all my training' and I'm 'still young' - I'm almost 62. For context she retired from her part time secretarial work at 54. ... taken the shine off it a bit from me ...

The best thing i ever did was retire at 61, I’m 63 & life is great. I used to be u at 5:45, shower, dress & off to work. I haven’t got up early in 2 years. I have hobbies to enjoy & keep me active. But if you can then you do you,

Run like the wind, dont look back.
Enjoy every bloody minute of your retirement, you have earned it!

Do you think that perhaps when your mum looks at you she sees someone far too young to retire? If she were to see her child as old enough to retire she would have to picture herself as very elderly.

After 40 years in the NHS you deserve to enjoy your retirement. You can always go back part time if you miss it.
