Yet another predator in the police force. If we can't trust the police, who the hell can women trust?

Join the special constabulary of your local police force and make a difference then.

Some of the 'not all cops', 'but my best mate's cousin is a cop and he's nice' and 'well could you do better?' comments on here are shocking, and naive.
If ALL cops were bad there would be anarchy.
BUT.
There are enough bad ones for us all to be wary and not inherently trusting of them.
The police have systemic and humongous failings to address and turn this around. That's worth debating.

Well said. What an absolutely shocking state of affairs when we are supposed to be grateful when a copper actually does what they are paid to do.

Or, here's an idea: the coppers that are actually paid to do the job, do it correctly and don't rape, assault, or become corrupt.

Your experiences have understandably given you the opinion that you have.
You should see if your local police force has an independent advisory group that you could join.

I'm sure all the advisory groups in the world won't make an iota of difference, especially since I'm only a female voice.

You really think one female voice can do something about an institutional problem? Pray tell: what can I do?

Female police officers are dangerous too for very different reasons. They need to make up their numbers but can't actually confront criminals so they "punch down" going after people on social media, or even children who make comments they then brand racist.

We lost a lot of experienced coppers and now much of the force is young and desk-based.

How do you know this?

are you saying there’s no female police officers out on the beat or in response, they’re all in offices chasing down people on Facebook?

fwiw cops don’t, and can’t just “go after people on social media”. They have to go through an external company to do so. There are criteria that must be met first.

Sometimes it only takes one voice. I find this all the time the people that complain the most are given the opportunity to speak directly with senior officers from their local police force on a regular basis and despite all their criticism when it really comes down to it they can’t be bothered.

Holy heck, I can assure you I have spoken to senior officers. Even had to ask one to leave my property as he was, by a country mile, the worst in quite a long line and is very much the reason I would never be alone with any cop ever again.

Dear Senior Officer

Many females are afraid of male police officers, so much so that they would probably not approach them in an emergency as there have been so many incidents of rape, abuse, assault and corruption. Please can you confirm that you will stop this happening please?

Very many thanks

I’m not saying you’re not entitled to your opinion, but there are women’s groups and independent advisory groups working with the police to challenge them and drive change. You choose to criticise online rather than get involved, often shutting down anyone with a different view.
It’s not black and white. Many dedicated officers do great work in their communities, protect vulnerable people and tackle drug dealers who groom children and involve them in crime. It’s a shame you seem unwilling to acknowledge that side or consider other perspectives, but you’re entitled to your opinion.
Enjoy your evening.

From my own and female acquaintances experiences, our voices fall on deaf ears. EVERY SINGLE TIME. If it's as easy as you suggest to make changes and root out the rotten apples, it would already have been done.

I think it’s worth remembering that every instance of wrongdoing from a police officer has been investigated by police officers who have worked extremely hard to bring them to justice. The issues with the police are most definitely real but to close your eyes to all those within trying to clean it up is not fair.

SockPlant · 13/10/2026 05:46

Hahaha. No.

Every one of them that finally gets investigated reveals a litany of chances to have nipped it in the bud.
