‘Reset’

incompetentcervix · Today 21:13

Does anyone else get annoyed by the term ‘reset’ when someone just means tidy up? I’ve seen it on threads where people ‘reset’ a room, and even a local cleaning company offers to ‘reset your house.
makes my teeth itch.

The whole world needs a ‘reset’!

Seziah · Today 21:17

Yes another SM invention, like the morning shed

teaandtoastwithmarmite · Today 21:17

My dd does her ‘room reset’ on a Sunday 😃. I don’t really mind it as a phrase. It feels right

Blankitout · Today 21:27

Funny I hadn't even particularly noticed the use of this term until I read it in another thread today. I had assumed it was just that particular OP's way of describing how she tidied up her DD's room. I didn't realise it was a term in general use.
I don't particularly like it but tbh being older and living quite an isolated life style these days I just tend to accept I use an almost different vocabulary and way of speaking from a lot of people anyway. And in the scheme of things there are a lot more annoying and irritating terms. The one that really makes me cringe is My bad. Absolutely horrible epression.

sprigatito · Today 21:28

It’s an Orwellian term for isolation in our local school 🤮

AnywayYouLike · Today 21:30

I kind of like the term.

It feels kind of different to 'cleaning', it's more like putting the room/your life back in order, a fresh start for the week/year/whatever.

I was about to ask the same!

What's the morning shed? Brushing your hair? Shaving your legs? Taking off your pyjamas? I'm intrigued.

It's when you get out of bed to discover your entire carapace stuck to the sheets. Making your unsteady way on brand-new legs to the bathroom, where you admire the gleaming perfection of your hours-old skin, you wince as your antennae bump the door lintel. You can feel fresh wings expanding from your back. Your room's obviously much too small for you now - you'll have to get rid of most of the furniture and knock out that doorway. Major reset required!

Catza · Today 21:48

I agree. When someone says it to me I immediately think they spend way too much time on TicTok. That and the "morning shed". For those who are interested it is "shedding" all the shit you spent way too much time putting on your hair and skin the night before.

Not too far off! It’s removing trendy layers off your face/hair like silk bonnet, overnight curlers, sheet mask, tape, eye patches, lip patches, pimple patches etc. I’m surprised no one has suffocated overnight yet!

blythet · Today 22:23

I was imagining a garden shed that people were using for some reason in the morning 😂

I thought it meant someplace you go for your morning coffee .
The reset thing bamboozled me too .,

ProsyFossil · Today 22:24

Must admit I assumed the morning shed was something to do with gardening tools and a cup of coffee.

BooksnChocolate · Today 22:27

I actually quite like reset... The idea that I'm putting the kitchen to rights ready for another meal/day 😁.

Morning shed can take a running jump tho!

Onlythisnamewasavailable · Today 22:28

We must have read the same thread as I saw the same post and thought it a strange turn of phrase. I assumed it meant putting the room back to how it was before and would be particularly to bed making, but it's a strange use of language

I have just read the list of things that are discarded in the morning shed, another new one for me. Good heavens, since when did people cover themselves in such an assortment of things to go to sleep. I thought it meant taking yesterday's make up off because you slept in it 🤦‍♀️🤣

Damn. I wanted it to be an excuse to start the day in the tranquillity of a garden shed, with a mug of tea and a good book.

Now, that would be a trend I could absolutely get behind!
