AIBU beeping in ear

I don't know if AIBU is the right place but for about a week now, in bed I will hear an intermittent beep beeping. It's like a very high pitch sound where I can't tell is real or inside my own head. I also had a very strange occurrence where my head felt like it shifted then the beep was long and loud. Like an ear popping on an airplane then a long beeeeeep.
I can hear it now and I don't know what to do.
Usually when I lie down. I've had a cold on and off for the last 2 weeks. Don't know if its related to that.

Can anyone else relate to this.

YABU - hearing beeps is normal and nothing to moan about.
YANBU - it may be something to be concerned about, I should get it checked out.

Does it happen if you lie down elsewhere? Or just in bed?

The noise my fridge makes can sound like a regular beeping when the house is quiet but only if you are in another room - have you ever tried to track down the source of the noise to see if there is anything external?

Could it be anything that has a battery - particular an in-build one that's sealed in - like in a fire or carbon monoxide alarm. Last year I had a weird water dropping noise, that happened every couple of minutes. Was convinced it must be a leak I was hearing under the floorboards with the central heating pipes - I pulled up the carpet, took up floorboards, bought a special little camera to put down underneath to try and locate any leak - and in the end it was the bloody carbon monoxide alarm! And its battery had gone.

I sometimes have a high-pitched beeping in one of my ears, and think it is tinnitus. The NHS guidance. I mentioned it to a consultant when I saw one about a different ear issue, and he was not concerned in my case, but check the guidance.

A lot of people get droning/whooshing near meno, apparently. Very occasionally, tinnitus can have reasons that need checking, so I would book an appointment, yes.
If it is tinnitus (obviously no one here can diagnose) there are helpful chats online.

I get the whooshing sound… and the ringing.. try massaging in front of your ear… weirdly I find this quietens it…
