My step daughter, (i've very recently divorced from her dad)and not amicably has had baby do i just ignore or congratulate. She has bad mouthed me and not spoken a word, took her dad's side even though he was unfaithful.

Can't work out which was to vote. I would send her a nice card.

LIZS · 05/10/2026 19:22

Were you told directly? If not probably no card.

HisNibs · 05/10/2026 19:48

I would go high and send card congratulating the safe arrival of baby. I seriously doubt you'll get any acknowledgement or ever see the child. Not surprising considering it wasn't an amicable separation. They won't be able to say that you ignored them though.

Id absolutely ignore, not send a card, no congratulations, nothing. You've just divorced her dad, you divorced her too. Its not like you were best friends before. Ignore.

Ignore

cartagenagina · 05/10/2026 20:53

Don’t know how to vote.

I would ignore. She isn’t part of your family now and has made her position clear.

itstoughatthetop · 06/10/2026 00:01

Just leave it. Move on.

Pippa12 · 06/10/2026 00:05

I think I’d leave it be if you didn’t intend to have a relationship with her and the baby. Move on. Don’t offer an opening to more drama.

GarlicEverything · 06/10/2026 00:11

I would send a card with absolutely no hidden message, just congratulations on new baby.

She might be pleased to receive it. If she bins it, so what.

They won't be able to say that you ignored them though.

It doesn't really matter what they say really, does it?

In most cases you'd have to prise the moral high ground out of my cold dead hand, but in this instance I don't think it's worth the price of a stamp.
