AIBU to tell you all to avoid Sainsbury's?

I am so frustrated and feel so powerless to do anything about the shocking service I received from Sainsbury's so just want to spread the word and tell you all to avoid Sainsbury's grocery delivery if you have any alternative options!

We have a family party today and I booked a £150 grocery delivery to arrive last night between 10-11pm with all the fresh food and drinks for the weekend. 11pm came and went with no communication and their help lines were closed. I waited up until midnight but no delivery.

This morning I rang at 8am as soon as their lines were open - their automated response line asked for my order number which they then told me had been delivered and I had to route through several options to actually speak to someone. Finally getting through to someone and they offer no explanation or apology for the totally missed order and said they'd refund £146 to my card in 5 working days! The delivery fee would have to be a gift voucher! So not even a full refund! I have pushed back on this but now have to wait 72 hours for another team to call me to process the £4 delivery fee. They have offered me a £5 voucher good will voucher for the poor service.

I know that issues happen - drivers get sick, they may run out of time etc but the total lack of communication and understanding from the store / company makes me so frustrated. Anyway I went out this morning at 7am to go and buy everything else and will just have to put it behind me. Who else should I use going forward because I'll never book with Sainsbury's again!

Forgot we booked an early morning delivery this week. Doorbell rang and woke us up.
It was all sat on the doorstep by the time we raced downstairs.

Normally we have a lunchtime one but have had late night evening deliveries and they almost always arrive early.. which is fine for us.

I gave up on Asda after they kept leaving without calling me after one time of knocking on the door. We lived in a different house at the time and you sometimes couldn’t hear if you were working in the back so not completely their fault but still annoying. Tesco have always been good. Once they didn’t deliver at night but the van had broken down and they called me

Keep an eye out I'm sure they release more dates soon

Thanks I’ll do that.

Just got one for the 22nd, thank you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I’ve shopped with Ocado for 15 years and only once had a no show, ironically when I was catering a massive party. But they did communicate - they certainly didn’t charge us for it and there probably was some comp. Use Ocado would be my best recommendation

We had a problem with Sainsbury’s recently and they didn’t deliver on the correct slot. They delivered next day but we needed the stuff previously for a picnic and had to dash and buy elsewhere. They refused to refund our delivery fee even though they didn’t deliver on the correct day. Awful service.

a few years ago, I booked the late slot with Asda, they were supposed to deliver between 2200-2300. No delivery came and I called but customer services were closed. When I got hold of them the next day they said I had received my order. I said I hadn’t else why would I be calling. They asked me to prove I didn’t get it, I said how and would they like me to send a photo of my empty fridge and freezer.

they spent days faffing about and eventually after a very terse few conversations admitted they didn’t come after I asked them to check their vehicle tracking. They tried to wriggle out of it for days. Got my money back.

To be honest, if I were catering for a family party, I wouldn't rely on a delivery instead of physically doing the shopping. I've been let down by Tesco and Asda too. Don't start me on M&S Christmas Collection slots. A mile long queue that takes 30+ minutes when I coukd have walked into the store and walked out with what I wanted via the checkout faster!

And certainly not that late at night! I normally get one the day before and top up as needed. I get a Sainsbury’s delivery every Sunday and very rarely have any issues
