AIBU to think I still have a chance after interview silence?

Hi moms,
I had an interview with a research centre 4 weeks ago and the next day, the lead panelist wrote to me:

“It was lovely to speak with you. HR will be in touch soon regarding the interview process. In the meantime, I was thinking it might be good for you to meet with one or two of the team where I can see some shared interests - including XX who is lead author on the YY. We’ll be in touch soon.”

I havent heard back since. Followed up last week…nothing. Emailed their HR still nothing.
AIBU thinking I still have a chance?

Can you contact whoever interviewed you directly? HR departments can be slow.

I don’t know. In my experience, and I’ve had this happen before, they could already be negotiating with somebody but keeping you on the back burner.

But it’s also happened that after a silence, they suddenly get in touch and say sorry, X was on holiday but we’d love to get a date in the diary!

it could also be that they are re-structuring or re-thinking the entire position!

So hard to say. Its probably not looking good, but you never know.
