Feeling lost

I think I have messed up my relationship with my niece because of things I have said in the past . I think my sister has told my niece things that I have said and this is influencing her opinion of me.

Your sister is looking out for her daughter. If you said unpleasant things about your niece, you need to face up to it and apologise.

How old is .your niece? What things have you said?

If your sister repeated the things you have said (rather than invented something) then your niece's opinion of you is influenced by your own words and is, therefore, absolutely correct.
I am not sure what you can do about it except to attempt to hash it out with her and apologise profusely.

@wintermist think we need to know if the things you said were directed at the niece or her family unit?

If they weren’t, then it’s just hearsay or it’s just another reason for her to have a bad opinion of you.
