AIBU to avoid leggings and bootcuts because I wore them before?

I am late 60s and replacing my wardrobe after significant weight loss. Now, I know both bootleg and leggings are flattering on me but because of my age I feel it looks like I haven't updated my look since the 80s/90s (leggings) or 00s (bootlegs). (Don't even get me started on tiered, Indian print maxi skirts since I remember the 70s very clearly - I hear these are making a comeback in certain quarters.) So my AIBU is:
YABU - wear what flatters you
YANBU - you have to be aware of both your age and what flatters you when it comes to re-cycled fashion trends.

I used to think that if you wore it the first time round you shouldn’t wear it the second…however, I now believe if a style or silhouette flatters or suits you then you should wear it. I’m 58 and I still wear boot cut jeans but I also have a pair of barrel legged ones; for me it’s about balancing a robust bosom and there’s only so many options.

Does it flatter you or have you not tried anything else? Are you dressing for your shape now? They’re not something I would wear again but then I’m a fan of wider legged jeans as they accentuate my waist. The only time I wear leggings is to the gym.

I'm early 60s. I mostly wear what I like and what flatters me, I suppose, and I try to keep reasonably up to date but I do think twice about styles that have come round again and whether I want to revisit them.

I do love and wear bootcut jeans, they look really good on me. I also have some wide leg jeans and some barrel legs as they keep me looking current and they suit me too (I'm tall and leggy).

I'm not keen on leggings as they remind me of thirty years ago when they were an easy thing to throw on when running after small children. I don't want to wear them any more, and anyway I'm not as slim as I was back then. Outside the gym I'd feel self conscious in them and not comfortable, so they are gone from my wardrobe for good.

Those long, flouncy tiered skirts are too boho for me these days. I wore them happily in the 70s and 80s, but they don't fit my style now.

I've seen trousers under dresses coming back too. I didn't like and never wore that trend the first time round, and I haven't changed my mind.

So I suppose if I were to vote, I'd say YANBU.

Both leggings and bootleg are "base items" which I am not sure ever went out of daily use. Indian skirts less so...
I have a couple of "classic" items in my wardrobe which are worn year after year without much consideration for my age or the current trend. I am definitely not going to go low cut jeans another go 30 years later but would quite happily wear a cropped top with high-waisted jeans.
If you like it, it looks good on you and you know how to style it well, who cares if you haven't updated your wardrobe since the 90s?

Well, quite glad I am being told YABU as it's giving me the confidence to wear the boot cut trousers! I know they suit me as I'm tall and leggy, like @DramaAlpaca. Leggings I'll probably keep mostly as functional clothing for yoga etc but I do like them under a linen tunic in the Summer. Best to avoid the scrunch bum look though! Thanks all.
