To ask for easy to prep high protein breakfast ideas?

I really, really need to get back into meal prepping.

I really struggle with breakfast and end up usually opting for a protein shake which just sets me up for a bad day, because I feel like I’ve not eaten and it’s full of UPFs!

I need some ideas of things I can make at the weekend for the whole week, to eat at my desk at work. Any ideas would be welcome!

A lot of people have mentioned real Greek yoghurt - and Fage is the best but it's astonishingly expensive now. I've moved on to the Greek (NOT "Greek style") versions done by Aldi and Lidl. The full fat versions are the best, but their 0% fat ones have no additional additives and are obviously much lower in calories and I rate them very highly.

I don't bother soaking oats - I just stir dry oats into my yoghurt and sling blueberries and some pumpkin seeds on the top. I eat it immediately, but if it sits for a bit it goes delightfully 'splodgy'.

I buy the Tesco 1kg full fat greek yoghurt pack for £4.10.

Bonus is that Tesco often send me Clubcard Prices where it's £3.65 for the 1kg pack, so even cheaper than Aldi and Lidl.

Good tip for the OP (I prefer the taste and consistency of the Aldi and Lidl ones).

I like these pancakes (obviously without the sugary honey topping!). I don't bother with the vanilla either. I like topped with fruit and greek yogurt and chia seeds. They freeze well. https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/oat_pancakes_with_14049

These gluten-free oat pancakes are perfect sweet or savoury.

Still not great if you don't really like overnight oats. I can tolerate them because they're convenient and healthy and all that, but they're never going to be on my list of favourite things to eat.

OP, something else I've just thought of is a tub of cottage cheese, ideally Longley Farm full fat (only 300 calories in the whole tub and very filling). You could add things like cucumber, cherry tomatoes, drizzle of olive oil, black pepper etc. In times of dire emergency, just eat it on it's own out of the tub.

You can batch cooked poached eggs and keep them in the fridge for a few days

I love Greek yoghurt. Not really bothered by carbs etc., just protein and calories!

Breakfast burritos? High protein, can meal prep them for the whole week, freezable, can you use the low carb tortillas for less calories

They are tasty too!

I will try the 0% one.

Do you have a flapjack recipe that’s not stacked full of butter?

You're looking for high protein options that keep the calories down, and you're honing in on the idea of flapjacks? 😆😆😆

I asked because it was a suggestion I saw and was interested in

Me too - so I have a serving of greek yoghurt with granola for breakfast

Greek yogurt, fresh fruit and a huge scoop of chopped nuts and seeds. I use walnuts, almonds, Brazil’s, pecans, macadamia hazelnuts, chia pumpkin and flax seeds and blitz them and Jar them in a jar in the fridge. I add in dried cranberries too when I can find them.

This is my breakfast every day without fail, unless I'm away - then I indulge in a humungous hotel breakfast! It might sound a faff, but it takes two minutes to be ready to eat and it's just so filling and has all the bits that we are told to have lol 😊
I prep a month or so at a time so there!

Get a big tupperware container with lid.
Pour in a pack of MILLED (not whole) chia seeds
A pack of MILLED flaxseeds
Two big handfuls of oat bran (Tesco has it)
Two big handfuls of wheat bran (Tesco again)
A teacup of protein powder (optional)

Put the lid on and shake shake shake ha ha. You now have a bulk supply!

Every morning I have two scoops of this (I use scoops from the protein powder pack). I add just boiled water, but you could use low fat hot milk (extra protein see?) and mix. Top with whatever berries I have (defrosted from the freezer is fine), like raspberries and blueberries, and a dessertpoon of Greek yogurt.

It is lush, and is so smooth and creamy with the G yog. Nothing like porridge which I've gone completely off now. No soaking, no stove top cooking, no microwave, nothing needed but a kettle (or ahem a method of heating your milk if that's your choice)

The oat and wheat bran are highly recommended for lowering cholesterol. I've been eating this for a year, and in that time my chol has gone down from 5.8 to an amazing 4.3. I am not dieting or anything else, just eat normally without sugar filled or fried stuff. Oh and am regular as clockwork in the bowel department with all that fibre. That's it.

I mix 25g protein powder into 200g of Greek yoghurt (either 5/2/0% depending!) with some homemade fruit compote and some berries. Maybe a drizzle of honey. Works out approx 300 cals and about 42g protein. I make up several jars in advance and eat when I get into the office.

otherwise I will have 2/3/4 chicken chipolatas and 2/3/4 eggs (depends how I’m feeling!) with an extra 100g egg whites from a carton. Sometimes stick in 100g cottage cheese too. Depending on which quantities you opt for it can be 260-550 cals and 30-60g protein. Appreciate you can’t eat these easily at your desk though.

LoveWine123 · 29/09/2026 16:58

I have a 3 egg omelette with ham. Large eggs. Includes a few sprays of olive oil. I make it in the morning and bring it to the office with me. It’s roughly 300 calories with 36-37g of protein, depending on the ham. Full macros attached. If I’m eating at home I also add low fat cottage cheese on the side and some fruit.

My current favourite is M&S smoked herring in a flat pack in the cold deli fish section. Not the pickled vinegary Scandi type, these are more like little cold kippers. Easy to slip into a bag in the morning and delicious to pick at 😋
