I've been there for around 3 weeks now. It's a mobile, driving role so I'm not at a particular base.
The woman who interviewed me and hired me I thought was lovely, really put me at ease and seemed very genuine. Our team has a group whatsapp chat which also contains senior management (I'm a sort of middle manager)
We're community-based so need to phone/email for management support. In my first week I screenshotted a document (just a template, nothing confidential) and asked on the chat 'can i please confirm this is correct to use for X process'. Nobody replied which was awkward, another colleague at my level saw it and messaged privately confirming it was.
The upper management team gave me a list of tasks to do, I got them all done except 1. I couldn't do the last 1 because the person I was meant to visit had already left. I emailed the manager who'd asked me to go to inform her of this and she replied 'Thanks for that, but you don't need to tell us if you haven't done something, that'll get picked up.'
The recruiter sent us a whatsapp message today asking if we can please do xyz and gave us a new list. A previous task I had been asked to do this morning was not on the list, but i had been asked, so maybe there was a mistake.
I emailed the recruiter who sent the list to clarify. She replied 'In future can you ensure all queries are communicated by telephone as I do not monitor my emails.'
When she was onboarding me she was very reactive by email and she replied to this one quickly enough but couldn't give me the info.
They haven't said I'm doing a bad job and I don't think I am, I've only done 3 weeks, i just find some of the communication a bit snotty and as if they act like you're stupid/a hindrance.
But I'd rather ask and communicate than be told 'why didn't you ask' or 'you should've told us about that.'
