To think some NCP car parks seem to have been designed by someone who has never driven a car?

I suspect the issue is some are old and date from a time when cars weren’t huge, but so many of them are woefully designed. Random columns here, there and everywhere; low walls you can barely see but will gladly scrape your car; narrow ramps between levels; narrow, often unusable spaces.

A lot of them seem dank, dark, and feel unsafe too. It’s like they were designed by a mugger.

Anyone agree or do I live near a particularly bad set of car parks?

Yes, I was thinking this last time I was in an NCP car park. (In Worcester) I do like a Q park though.

They also despise pedestrians too despite the fact car drivers become pedestrians in a car park. Random hidden stairwells. Poor signage to stairwells in the car park (where are they? Left right? Walk 5 minutes only to find they are on the other side) Entry to stairwells hidden down back streets. Logical entrance is when the cars enter but no foot paths and no pedestrians allowed. Impossible to remember floor numbering and zoning (when you are on the ground floor but the floor is numbered 2 but it’s 5 flights up the stairs from the street) etc

Totally agree on the gate pedestrians. Some of them are like trying to get out of a labyrinth.

Completely agree! I used to use one every day for work and it would piss me off every day.
That and other people spending ages trying to squash in a space they don't fit in instead of going up onto the higher floors where there was plenty of space.
Their shuggy boating in and out took up the whole of the space so you couldn't even get past them
