It’s a parking one

Our local council has just resurfaced a car park I use regularly and brought in charges - not the end of the world but AIBU that they’ve shrunk the spaces so much that I can’t fit my car in any more? It’s not even a huge vehicle
I struggled to get out of it myself without clipping someone else’s door - there are no parent child spaces either just disabled so
have no chance with DGD

According to VW my car is 1820mm so I think the parking space is 2M - which in my opinion is unreasonable

@OkOpal I’m assuming the county in name helped! I will email local council - perhaps they want to pay for the scrapes to my car doors

I saw the photo and thought I recognised the background. I read your post and then saw your username so it confirmed it for me. I was delighted as its nothing memorable really but I just had a feeling. Those spaces weren't generous before the revamp and some of the parking is questionable at the best of times. I hope the council sort it out but they probably will fob you off.

Historical minimum width for council parking is 2.4m, with many upgrading to 2.5-2.6m due to bigger cars. How wide is that space? It looks about 2m. Lodge a complaint with the council. Escalate if need be.

If you think it is 2m, complain to council as mondaytosunday has pointed out!

That’s the stuff of nightmares for me.

My car, which is a totally normal but larger model, is 1.92 ish wide without wing mirrors. I obviously couldn’t and wouldn’t park there, although that’s not an unknown occurrence for me. Given I’m in a wider car I seek wider spots where possible and am always very mindful of others when I park. I wouldn’t want to inadvertently cause anyone else any issues.

If it really is 2m wide I’d ask the council for more information about accessibility and their decision making process
