Oasis tickets

Ended up spending £990 on 2 tickets for Manchester and a 4 star hotel. I was panicking and just paid it as they were the only ones left, now I am unsure whether to keep them or see if I can resell them. Do you think anyone would buy them? We can afford it but its just a crazy amount to spend for a concert.

You do you! 2 x people who have gone from rags to riches in true rock fashion. One could write some songs that captured a generation and have become anthems and his brother who like it or not has the IT factor when he walks onstage. From the dole to multi millionaires in relatively short time. Ignorant? Products of their upbringing/area but no doubt their own children will get the best education. Even the Gallaghers probably can't believe they got a second chance and it turned out more successful than the first.

Two lads who went from the dole to millionaires… who gives a shit?
Still can’t sing, still arseholes. Money doesn’t fix a crap voice or a horrible personality. Free tickets or not, I’m good.

Datgal · 27/09/2026 22:26

I think they're definitely taking the piss out of their fans. Even if I liked them I wouldn't go. Just in it for the money.. especially after the fiasco last time. Greedy bastards.

The only gig I’ve ever walked out of was Noel G and his High Flying a birds. It was at a festival. He was rude and obnoxious and, yes, ignorant to the audience. I don’t care how good his songs are, he’s vile and I wouldn’t go to see him if he paid me.

ShhhYouDontKnowMe · 27/09/2026 22:38

Not sure how they’re any greedier than anyone else. Last year with the dynamic pricing, fair enough. But this time prices are fixed and were published well in advance. DH got tickets yesterday for £170 each which was the max we agreed we were willing to go to. Paying it over 3 months to spread the pain.

Prices this time are about on a par with other big concerts:

For Etihad, standard ticket prices are £74.60, £107.60, £173.60, £206.60 and £266.60 including fees for seated tickets and £173.60 and £206.60 for standing tickets.

Harry Styles at Wembley

  • Seated: £45.95-£255.20
  • GA Rear: £146.80
  • GA Front: £201.45
  • GA Pit: £281.45

Olivia Rodrigo at the O2: £79.40 to £414.40 (there are actually tickets on sale for over £600 currently - not resale!)

Noah Kahan at Wembley was up to £260.

With the demise of revenue through streaming, gigs and merch are the main revenue stream for any artist these days.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 27/09/2026 22:51

We got tickets for £150
each for Manchester. Hotel is £210 per night and the train up from London will probably cost us another £80 each. We decided to stay two nights in the end and explore the City as DH grew up there but has only been back once in the 33 years I've known him.

My son saw them at Wembley this year but we couldn't get tickets. He thinks we are mad spending so much on tickets and travel but we love Oasis and didn't get to see them
in the 90's due to spending all our money on a wedding and a house so we are making up for it now.

After seeing the brilliant Oasis film a week or so ago I was really sad we missed out on tickets for this summer.

Fireybricks · 27/09/2026 22:53

Why are people allowed to resell tickets?! This is where the problem lies

Fireybricks · 27/09/2026 22:56

It shouldn’t be that hard to stop it. Do ID checks when you buy the tickets and make people present their ID at the venue. There’ll be super duper AI ways to speed up entry this way. Take out insurance like travel insurance incase you can’t go.

JaneIves · 27/09/2026 23:03

You do know that they get a percentage of revenue from the tickets not the full amount? Putting on live shows is costly.

I’ve been a fan since the early days, have seen them many times including Wembley last year. Done Knebworth in 96 so I wasn’t fussed about going there again.
I paid just over £400 for 2 tickets at the Etihad (no fees my arse!)
And I’ve booked a hotel in Rochdale for £180 - the room rates for show days are something else! Now they are robbing swines!
I live in the SE, so train to that there London and then onto Manchester.

Will it be worth it? It will be to me.

the band get an amount they ask/negotiate for with generally a guarantee ie if no one turned up the band would still get x amount. Plus they may well get a percentage of any booking fee/drink sales/car parking. The amounts are negotiated and the bigger the act the better their deal. I get the angst re pricing but TM know exactly what you/we will pay. The shows get cheaper with more dates rsp if in one venue as you only have to move the eqpt once in/out.

A ticket is a commodity and it's yours to do with as you want but it should be no resale above face value. If you paid £5 or £500 that's the set price but people want to make money.

Fencegate · 28/09/2026 07:19

Tickets can be resold at face value only on Ticketmaster or Twickets.

Genuinely - and I really mean this - I hope the people who have bought tickets to make a profit get stuck with them.

DP tried last time and this time to get tickets without avail. He’s gutted. Hopefully some resale ones at a decent price come up

WishItHadBeenMe · 28/09/2026 07:29

After wasting hours last time and getting nowhere, we decided hot to bother this time as very unlikely to get tickets. I hope everyone who got them has a fabulous time. I have my memories of seeing them in the 90’s to fall back on. Much cheaper and easier to buy, and not controlled by ticketmaster back then. 🤷‍♀️

randomchap · 28/09/2026 07:45

£990 for turgid dad rock? And to be surrounded by the type of person who spends big money on it too. It'll be full of dickheads filming it on their phones, drinking way too much, and there will be loads on coke too

Have fun

ShhhYouDontKnowMe · 28/09/2026 09:17

🤣🤣🤣 yep, us two middle managers there with our kids will ‘avin’ it laaaarge.

Ponoka7 · 28/09/2026 09:40

My DD went to the last one. She said it was a better experience than some of the holidays she's gone on. If you can afford it, then go. I can't do standing concerts anymore. There's concerts I regret not going to.
@randomchap "the type of person?" You mean all us older folk who were at Uni when we were training to be Teachers, SWs, NHS staff, are now mortgage free and can spend on concerts? Or my DD, Social Care manager and her mates, all senior managers who, as teens, liked Liam's vibe? There'll be a few surgeons from the different hospitals two of my DD's work in. Sorry but the crowd will be too varied to be put into a convenient box.
Don't like them? Don't go.

ClemFandngo · 28/09/2026 09:43

Oops! To be honest it would probably work out the same. If you’re a fan though you know it’ll be worth it! Hotel prices are alone what you’ve paid for that now anyway with no ticket. Crazy!

if you want to resell, that option via ticketmaster starts December 31st (which you’ll see on the ticketing the app)

RE: reselling on the likes of viagogo will be a risk as there are already new measures in place to start cancelling them. If this works or not who knows!

hotel/coach/vip packages aren’t anything to do with the actual band, and generally with large promoters the likes of SJM.

30 years ago you might pay £20 for a gig for Oasis, but fans also spent £100s on their physical format of music. That’s not something that happens now, gigs and merch are where that profit for bands is. It’s their job, they’ve got to earn. So do the crew and everyone involved in organising these colossal outdoor entertainment events. Safety, catering, equipment, sound, visuals, the transport etc.

And finally people easily offended and repulsed by them are great entertainment! I love it when people don’t get it and allow theirselves to get wound up by their existence!! If oasis really were shit, this thread wouldn’t exist…

troppibambini6 · 28/09/2026 10:00

I went last year with dd we were on the unlucky ones who ended up paying £350 for them when the price shot up in the queue. We debated selling them but decided to just go we are both fans. We got front standing and we were right at the very front of front standing. It was absolutely unbelievable and worth every penny.
We got tickets again for the etihad yesterday. We are front standing again and paid £300 each. Yes it’s expensive but for such good tickets I’m happy to pay it. It was a package that also allows you to queue jump and get you some free merchandise (which I’m less bothered about)

nomas · 28/09/2026 10:16

Yes, my friend had tickets for a similar value for the last Oasis concerts, they sold quickly, for the amount she bought them for. I think there was a resale fee.

feelingflushed · 28/09/2026 15:58

We got tickets for the Etihad in June. I’m disabled so got an accessible ticket with a free carer ticket which I didn’t expect! Ticket was £178. Looked at hotels straight away and Premier Inns were coming up at £350, but we booked a superior room in a central four star hotel for the same price. The same room is £522 today!

Pedallleur · 28/09/2026 17:22

Any act you see is in it for the money and Oasis are currently at the top so command a premium price. The clue is show BUSINESS. Good news is we don't have to go. Our money can go elsewhere. But for those who are going have a fantastic time.

To be fair that could be a description of any event anywhere. Theatre? Enough threads about the behaviour there. Sports events? Same. Cocaine has been found in the HoC. Oasis don't have an exclusive on any of those listed. That's society

We have had to resell tickets due to my daughter‘s health problems and sometimes logistics. Big name stuff like Taylor Swift. We only ever sell back to Ticketmaster or AXS, or occasionally Twickets. We tend to make a loss, especially on Twickets. It would be against my ethics to ever sell tickets to fans at a profit so I never do. But I’m glad I have the ability to sell tickets when needed.

thestraycathouse · 28/09/2026 17:44

I spent around £1700-£1800 taking my daughters to Taylor Swift - 3 x hospitality tickets and 2 nights hotel / train / food. It was a hideous amount but was an amazing experience for them…..

RedToothBrush · 28/09/2026 18:01

I genuinely can not fathom paying this amount of money to see a gig.

I saw Oasis many many times over the years as I loved them. I travelled all across the country seeing them multiple times on a tour. And I've seen U2 over the years on VIP tickets in another country and even that was cheaper for the entire holiday for three of us (I went to the gig on my own). But there was always cheap tickets available one way or another and that matters to me. I don't necessarily object to VIP expensive tickets.

This is a whole level above that and I do not get it. Not even for a band I really love.

It is simply obscene amounts of money and the debt people are getting in for it is frightening.

I had a bit of FOMO last year as I missed out on getting tickets but honestly this year I've not even been bothered to sign up for the sale. I think of all the things I could spend the money on instead and fuck that shit trying to relive my youth. It totally prices out young adults and kids who just love music and that's unforgivable to me. There was something about getting a ticket as long as you were prepared to queue all night when you are young and able to do that (yes including taking a day off on holiday to do it) that was a great leveller.

I also think so many people have got so carried away with it this time around. They queue for hours for the tickets and then eventually get through and panic when the tickets are far more than they had planned to spend and still pay that anyway because they've emotionally invested and physically invested the time in getting the tickets.

I appreciate it costs a lot more to put on a gig now and they want to makes it worthwhile financially for themselves but this is just next level.

I really think there should be a cooling off period to return the tickets at that price. It's high pressure sales tactics. I do think there are going to be a lot of people over the next 9 months or so who will deeply regret buying these tickets as I think we have a massive financial crunch coming that is going to make these tickets look even more decadent and out of touch with reality.

My only hope here is that they put some new up and coming bands on the bottom of the bill to give them an opportunity of a life time.

This isn't even being adverse to making a lot on these tickets as an artist. I think there is a total lack of thought in there too that misses the point. I just wish there was a way they could make it more accessible for kids - this isn't even about me - even if that were a small number of youth tickets that you have to sign up for on a lottery to get and have to provide ID for.

Barleymoat · 28/09/2026 18:01

If you can afford OP and it's not going to to put you in any financial bother, why the hell not go!!! We only live once and AI is apparently going to finish us all off in a few years!

I was a bit 😬 at how much it cost me and DH to go and see Snow Patrol at the Royal Albert Hall last week (and stay in London overnight) but OMG it was incredible, absolutely incredible and I won't forget it ❤️
