Omg I absolutely hated that episode.

The singing episode was the worst I’ve ever seen. Truly awful. You didn’t cover what she did to poor George either. She had no morals.

My least favourite bit of grays was all the dancing in pants. I mean, why specifically pants? Did you take off your other clothes in order to dance with your gal pal in a way that looks good on telly?

@MellowSubmarine he did, after Callie married him in vegas far too quickly when she was a surgeon and he was an intern. He was far too naive for her. Then she went on to mess up plenty of other people and George sadly died.

The god awful singing episode aside, Callie was one of my favourites! Owen on the other hand 🤮

I read years ago that the actress (Sara Ramirez I think?) was in a broadway show, and some executives from whichever tv channel makes grey’s anatomy (can’t remember now) saw her and were so impressed that they told her they’d cast her in any of their shows. She asked for grey’s anatomy, so the writers had to make up a part for her.

Not sure if that’s true but it makes sense as to why she was such a weird character, they were trying to figure out who she was as they went along rather than having an actual character in mind that they then cast for.

Like she appears as a surgeon who secretly lives in the hospital, and then shortly afterwards she’s a millionaire heiress, and then she’s in love with George randomly and suddenly. Then she’s super close best friends with mark sloan even though they’ve only been colleagues for a year or so. Her whole character makes no sense.

It also explains the singing episode a bit, they always wanted to use her singing skills so just invented a way to do it even though it didn’t make much sense. Shonda Rhimes has said before that the character was named Calliope as that’s the muse of singing so she thought it was obvious that at some point they’d be using her singing skills.

Is that why they was shoehorned into AJLT and Madam Secretary?
