But why would a cyber attack mean everything would be cut off to the point whereby we need a radio?! Mobile phone masts as well as every broadband provider? At the same time? Find that hard to believe. I also fail to understand why people are bragging about how many gas canisters they have stored?! So these cyber attacks are going to blast all our heating systems AND the national grid as well, is it?!?!

No-one is saying that everything will be cut off. But your provider could be, or in your area.

FM radio is the simplest broadcast medium, that they could use to get information out to the population using generators and the least sophisticated technology. Therefore it is most likely to keep working after a serious cyber attack.

Look at what's happened recently and the disruption its caused - M&S hack, accidental power outages in Spain and Portugal, serious weather events. And these have been relatively minor in the scheme of what could happen yet have caused huge disruption.

A wind up radio is a relatively cheap, easy to store item, the question is why wouldn't you buy one if you could?

The same for water. Granted the recommended quantities are bulky, but not expensive eg spend £10 on a few cheap 5 litre bottles. When they get to the expiry date, use them to flush the toilet, water the garden, donate to allotment holders etc and replace. It's not difficult but it is baffling why so many people are being so obstructive and obtuse about this.

What brand is this, please?

This one. It's cheaper on Amazon which is where I got it from.
