AIBU to take former employers to court and launch a petition?

Im going to try to make this one short
I ve been working for a wealthy family and experienced psychological manipulation, with inappropriate invasion of privacy and harassment. I have worked there for a number of years but lately it has become worse.
I know I have been a victim and the worst part is resisting that stigma that made me avoid quitting. Eventually what your mind refused to acknowledge your body bears the cost and after several panic attacks I was forced to resign.
Im taking them to court. Because why should I be left with nightmares where Im entrapped in their house and can't seem to ever leave? and entrusting people where every plausible employer becomes a suspect? Why should I bear the cost of therapy sessions and not ask for higher authority to acknowledge that the lack of regulation in private environment can easily, too often turn employee into modern slaves?

So yes guys Im launching a petition with the background stories and I would like your honest opinion; would you go that end for your rights to be recognised? even potentially risking blacklisting?
But most importantly would you sign my petition? (if you believe it is worth it)

Petition for what? Private clients are still required to adhere to employment laws.

I suppose it would depend on how egregious their behaviour had been and whether I felt strong enough to go on that journey.

What does the petition actually say?
What are you asking to be changed?

Are you looking to bring charges against them, or recover costs of therapy?

I’m sorry but without knowing more this sounds like a disaster. It’s going to be your word against theirs. Sounds very difficult to prove and difficult to see what crime might have been committed. Plus if they are wealthy they will be able to pay very good lawyers to represent themselves. Can you? Do you really want to dredge over whatever has gone on for the next couple of years?

And no I would not sign a petition knowing only one side of the story.

It sounds as though you’ve had a rotten time and your mental health is on the floor- would you not be better asking for a decent pay off and moving on?

When you say take them to court, do you mean you have filed with Acas for early conciliation with a view to taking it to a tribunal or something else? Starting a petition at the same time as legal action would be viewed very dimly by the court and you could be portrayed as unreasonable.

A petition and taking your employer to court are two entirely different things. A petition for what? And what are you actually taking them to court for? “Psychological manipulation and invasion of privacy” is a really vague statement, to take them to court or to an employment tribunal you’ll need to be very specific about what they actually did wrong and what financial loss you actually suffered.

Why are you taking them to court? What did they do? Did you consult a solicitor or ACAS?

It is unclear what your employer actually did or what your petition would actually be for?

I’ll be appalled (should some petition based on your complaints actually attract signatories, who will be publicly condemning someone on hearsay evidence!)

I realised trying so hard to make it short and simple I ve missed out some details

1. Acas is done and over with
2. Tribunal date has been released ( and I have plenty of written evidences as well as previous colleagues witness statement. They simply did not last enough to be able to make this kind of claim). We are talking about abuse of power, bullying, emptional abuse, breach of contract...etc etc the list is quite long and fairly documented
3. Petititon to ask recruitment agencies to give employee the right to check families references.
4. Not sure if you know this industry but not everyone is decent enough to understand basic employment law.

What industry though? (Are you the gardener, the nanny, the cook, the architect, the governess, or even the roofer?)

If you can't be bothered to state what actions your former employers took that made you feel psychologically harmed and instead have undertaken an exercise in florid nonsense writing, I won't engage further in this thread or your ridiculous notion of signing your imaginary petition!

So the petition is for employees to be able to do background searches of their employers?
Like confirming references, or like a criminal background check?

Also, as to taking them to court, is it for breach of contract, or something else specific?

Its separated from the tribunal case. As regardless of the hearing outcome, there is a reality we experience and knowing where we go and who we will be working with should be standard. Especially in an intimate env where you get to see all masks off.

Theres never 1 side to a story...but should it prevents the victim to tell theirs and claim for fairer recruitment process, less impartiality?
Most of these consultants know how these families are toxic!! And yet they still advertise or recruit when needed...misleading genuine people for their commission😮‍💨
But I will give you that
