To keep my three nephews up all night?

I am having my three nephews over for a sleepover. They’re six, just turned two and five months. The eldest has slept over a few times but not the younger two.

Instead of wrestling them into bed I am planning to let them stay up as late as they like. I’ve always done this with the eldest and he loves it and usually falls asleep at about 10:30pm. I’ll obvious have the baby in his crib but I’ve got a huge corner sofa so I’m going to bring the duvets down and we can just have a slumber party downstairs.

I told my friend who has two sons and she thinks that this will impact their whole week and their schooling and routine and probably exam results and future careers.

I’m not going mad am I? This is fine for one fun evening?

I have never said that.

It never took anything for the eldest to recover

how often do you have them when you say you have them often?

Odd.

What’s odd is parents that regularly hand over their new born baby plus toddler plus 6 year old overnight to you.

a newborn!

Why can't your 9yo handle a singular late night? That's odd I think.

He's autistic. HTH.

You have since admitted though that you exaggerated and your friend didn’t way what you made out in the OP

I thought people would grasp obvious sarcasm.

Goodness you ate one for hyperbole 😆

no one is talking about chopping anyone’s leg off

but my point is - the Op really can’t be confident that the child doesn’t spiral as the day goes on if she waves him off at 11am the next day 🤷‍♀️

Spiral! 😂 Be serious now.

So to be clear ALL your friend said was it might mess up with routine?

Sounds like fun.
When they fall asleep, you can carry them to bed.
Thats what I used to do with mine on movie nights etc.
Rigid routines were for nursery/ school nights, not weekends, sleepovers and holidays.

Unfortunately some DC can't cope with switching back and forth from weekday school days to weekends.

Having someone having your 3 very young children including your new born overnight “often” is…. Unusual.

Can’t say being regularly separated overnight “often” from my new born baby is something that massively appealed to me but each to their own

Roosthename · 27/09/2026 15:59

6, 2 and four months. I look after them often.

how often? Unusual for parents to hand over a new born plus toddler and 6 year old on a regular basis

Don’t be daft.

So go on then

I said in the OP that the two year old and baby have never slept over. Do you struggle to understand that?

Why?

You don’t think it’s relevant?

what is often? Could be once a week or once a month?

how old was the 4 month old when you had her overnight for the first time? Does she co sleep with her parents or Moses / cot?

You need to calm down a bit and read slowly.

Why are you saying she?

He is a boy. Reread the OP, slowly.

You said you had “them” often

So how “often” do you have them overnight l? Seems a relevant question 🤷‍♀️

The answer to this is in the OP. You are overexcited.

I know others have focused on the toddler but it is the 4 month old I’m curious about.

does she co sleep or Moses basket?
how old when you first had her overnight

If someone has looked after my three very young children overnight so I could go out no WAY am I making them feel like shite by telling them the afternoon was awful with overtired tantrumns

Well that would be her choice.
But without meeting either the child or the sister (who the OP has met), you’ve decided that the child doesn’t cope with the late nights and that the OP’s sister would probably lie to her about whether he coped with them or not.

Unfortunately some DC can't cope with switching back and forth from weekday school days to weekends.

The parents of ops nephews will soon find out which way their dc's go with this. Op has made it clear her sister is just happy to be having a child free night and hasn't imposed any 'rules '.
