I’m prepared to be shot down in flames, but is RubPauls drag race the equivalent to the black and white minstrel show? maybe I should have posted this on the feminist board. Feel it’s just such an awful parody of women.

(Also to be clear not all drag performers are men who wear feminine attire. There are Drag Kings and Femme Queens (female drag queens)).

If you think that’s what the show does you should try watching it. Drag, specifically male drag queens is NOT about “presenting and reinforcing stereotypical views of women”. It’s art, performance and in many (though not all cases) feminine expression. Which has nothing to do with depictions of women.

It hasn’t been axed. It’s been dropped from the BBC due to lack of budget but will be on WOW presents. RuPaul’s paid for streaming service.

Yes, I find stage names like "Anna Bortion", "Miss Carriage" and "Amber Alert" so artistic and feminine.

Also when they liken women to "fish" or "fishy" in reference to vaginas.

I don’t understand the blindspot that allows drag to remain mainstream entertainment, whilst imitating any other group with protected characteristics is so unacceptable. Pure misogyny.
