To have something sweet/ pudding every day after dinner?
kind of thought the majority did this but after talking to friends maybe not. So for example after dinner every night will have something sweet eg bar of chocolate, biscuits

Every day! We have fruit with our toddler after early dinner. Then a mini magnum, halo ice cream or couple of squares of chocolate once she is in bed. I really look forward to it. Today I had 3 big cookies in the afternoon so won’t have anything this evening. I‘m a healthy weight and eat balanced meals.

GoingForAGallop · 10/09/2026 21:01

I always have something sweet after dinner, usually Greek yoghurt with raspberries and honey or one square of dark chocolate.

I couldn't not have something sweet after a meal.
I'm a proper sugar addict though!!

MudandMoet · 10/09/2026 21:04

We have a pudding every single night, sometimes two because we’re greedy fuckers.

VegQueen · 10/09/2026 21:17

I prefer to eat something sweet in the afternoon rather than evening after dinner. I do have a sweet treat pretty much every day but I know I shouldn’t and I don’t necessarily think everyone else does.

suki1964 · 10/09/2026 21:18

DH does like a dessert, but he can afford the calories. Hes happy with whatever is on offer, be it a mini magnum , a dessert pot , at a push he will take greek yoghurt with honey. This week I made him an apple crumble, hes on day three of it

We eat pretty late ,some time between 7 and 8:30 so for me there's no time to eat before bed

If I made a cake, it would be served mid afternoon with a cuppa

Motheranddaughter · 10/09/2026 21:20

Only at the weekend

Namechangewegovyjune26 · 10/09/2026 21:20

I used to until I started taking wegovy tablets. I would always be seeking chocolate, biscuits or pudding after dinner. Now it’s a revelation as I wouldn’t even think of it.

Realised that before my husband would do it because I was, but since I haven’t, he’s not bothered at all.

I very rarely have any kind of dessert at home. I would far rather have an extra helping of savoury dinner. I don't have much of a sweet tooth. I almost never choose a dessert in a restaurant.

Are you my ideal dining companion?!

I am the only person I know who wants the starter and the main, and get pressured into not having it because other people dont want to wait for me as they are "saving up" for pudding. Really pisses me off because they dont mind me sitting there with nothing in front of me while they have their dessert.

I have to have something sweet after lunch and dinner - I hate it. It's a compulsion I've been trying to break for decades, and a throwback to childhood habits that is so deeply ingrained I can't reprogramme my thinking. I can't concentrate on the next part of my day until I've had some chocolate or similar. It's miserable 😞

UniquePinkSwan · 10/09/2026 21:25

AgathaTabithaBagitha · 10/09/2026 19:10

😄 you've asked everyone you know have you?

i haven’t asked them but we have conversations about stuff like that all the time

Every supermarket has been selling the since the start of the month. Every year my DD buys and eats them by November she can't look one in the face

I never knew this.... i do love a mince pie, warm and covered in double cream 😋, now I need to be a greedy bugger and find some tomorrow. Oohhhh mince pies in September, yum, yum. 🤣🤣🤣.

SamPoodle123 · 10/09/2026 21:27

No, we never do this. Kids get pudding at school after their lunch and that is more then enough. If I want something sweet ill have some fruit at some point in the day. I will have a treat once in a blue moon if I fancy it. I enjoy an ice cream maybe a couple times every few months or so. I enjoy candy/chocolate around halloween and holidays or the very random odd treat. I do have my one coffee in the morning w a little sugar, so that is something sweet.

HereComesTheNight · 10/09/2026 21:30

I never used to have a sweet tooth but that changed in my 60s.
I usually make a crumble at the weekend and during the week I'll have a huge bowl of ice cream a couple of nights a week. No weight issues but I eat healthy and no snacks otherwise.

Sunnybeachday · 10/09/2026 21:33

I don’t routinely, as usually full enough, but if I do fancy something sweet later in the evening, I’ll have it.
Those I know who do generally came from families who had dessert after dinner and it’s not something we did.

southofscotland · 10/09/2026 21:36

Nope, I generally prefer savoury over sweet. I do like sweet things and will enjoy an Easter egg or advent calendar (no point if it isn’t chocolate!) but I don’t need or want something sweet after dinner. I know plenty who do though so it’s not unusual.

CoventryCity · 10/09/2026 21:36

The only people I know who do that, are quite overweight.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 10/09/2026 21:36

Nope never. I don’t even have a pudding in restaurants.

AFPotts · 10/09/2026 21:37

@Magicpaintbrush How are you with having chocolate in the house, could you just have a small piece and leave the rest?

gothicbat · 10/09/2026 21:37

No I don’t. My DC have natural yoghurt.

Yellowchair1 · 10/09/2026 21:38

Yes I do, and do the same for my child. But it's often fruit, though sometimes cake/ ice cream / pudding (& we are both very slender!). I think it is better than snacking like a lot of people do

AyeOopDuck · 10/09/2026 21:40

Over the last 2 weeks I had rhubarb pie and custard one day and then on one other I had some chocolate digestives. I had tangerines a couple of times as well. It’s a sweet thing once a week for us.

JaceLancs · 10/09/2026 21:42

At lunchtime I will have a yoghurt or some fruit after my salad or sandwich
In the evening we never have a dessert other than for a special occasion

nomoremsniceperson · 10/09/2026 21:46

The kids have something small and sweet after dinner every day. We started it as part of the Ellyn Satter approach to a healthy relationship with food. Me and DH only eat something sweet that late at night occasionally. I prefer to only eat sugary stuff earlier in the day.
