Masked men at Dover - KKK vibes

MumofCandR · Yesterday 11:53

They are utter cowards and hypocritical. The same ilk will state they're against the burkha and protests by environmental groups etc. but are happy to mask their faces in 'protest' the reality is they're just nasty specimens of humanity, full of people with self righteous white supremacy tendencies. AIBU.

I know there is. However, working with victims of abuse requires huge levels of confidentiality and tact. That's probably why I rarely believe those saying they are in that profession.

I work with vulnerable women including survivors of violence and abuse. I comment on trends and patterns and occasionally give examples, but always sufficiently changed or featuring common occurances, so the point is illustrated and no confidentiality is broken. I'm tactful in my work with service users. Far less so when speaking truth to power to advance their rights, and possibly even less than that on an anonymous forum.

Lots of protests involve peaceful marching, likening that simple activity to the KKK who committed atrocities is done purely to shock. It's an appalling and rather desperate false equivalence.

What are they marching to protest about, then?
If it's not immigrants, and "protecting our own?"
They're doing it at Dover. Where people protest about boats and people arriving.
You know damn well what they're protesting about, the same thing the KKK do so it's a perfect equivalence when they're seemingly using the same tactics.
So your "people protest about other things so it can't be that" is laughable.

How very dare white men not stay down at the bottom of the pile, where they are told they belong. I also agree with you. Treat people like shit for long enough and they will turn. They are stereotyped no matter what they do.

Racist claptrap.

Have you seen the footage of the lady on her farm with her two terrified kids? Too scared to leave her property.

Racist claptrap.

You're quite quick to talk down to others. What on earth is racist about any of what I said?

A failed asylum seeker jailed for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old schoolgirl has lost his bid to avoid deportation after a judge ruled he was not bisexual and remained a danger to Britain.

Karam Majdi, 27, had claimed in a last-ditch asylum appeal that he could not be sent back to Egypt because he is bisexual and would face persecution.

But a judge has dismissed his appeal in full – finding that his deportation 'was and remains in the public interest'.

His immigration tribunal also rejected Majdi's claim to be Syrian and found his account of relationships with men was inconsistent and unsupported by evidence.

Judge R Abdar concluded: 'I am satisfied that the appellant has failed to rebut the presumption of the appellant posing a danger to the community.

'I am not satisfied that the Appellant is bisexual.'

Majdi, who arrived late to his hearing last month, now faces deportation after serving half of his seven-year sentence for the sex attack on the girl he met online in 2017. He is accused of lying that he was an unaccompanied child from Syria who had been fighting in Aleppo when he arrived in the UK by small boat in 2016.

The rapist had been living in a hostel in Hove when he travelled to East Croydon and assaulted the girl in what the judge described as an 'opportunistic' and 'vile' attack that left the victim's thighs black and blue.

He pinned her down, despite her protestations, his trial heard.

Majdi, who claims his identity documents were lost at sea on his way to Britain, was sent to a youth offender institution before his release in 2021.

In his latest bid to fight deportation and remain in the UK, Majdi told the authorities he is bisexual.

This was initially considered by the Government – before it was reviewed and challenged by the Home Office the day before his appeal hearing.

At the deportation tribunal it was heard that he was deemed 'high risk to children'.

This is terrible. Everyone would agree.

Pretty much everyone wants the illegal immigrants to stop coming, especially by boat.

But these protests don't help with that. Protesting is not the same as suggesting practical things that would work. The government has reduced small boat crossings by 40%. What specific policies would you like them to enact, that are lawful, that they are not already doing? It would be much more helpful for these 'patriots' to be making helpful suggestions rather than just dressing all in black, covering their faces like hard lads, and chanting.

It's not like the government is going 'What? Stop the boats, you say? What a great idea! We hadn't thought of that!'

I mean, nobody's doing that.
Are you really so threatened by people who aren't white wanting equality that you see it as you're being told to get down to the bottom?
As that's ridiculous if so.

Nobody has but being in certain positions shouldn't require that job role to be shared on SM. It's normally a point scoring tactic, which conveniently pops up on every immigration thread.

Perhaps you’re talking about someone else. I haven’t shared my job role and, unless it’s a surprise to you that men of all ethnicities and religions can be violent to women, I haven’t shared any sensitive information.

I think it can be relevant, interesting to know why people have the views they do, why they disagree and to learn more about things that aren’t always visible. If you see someone explaining the context for their knowledge/experience as ‘point scoring’ then that’s your right.

WouldYouLikeAnyToast · Yesterday 20:31

No.
Are you new to internet discussions, or just not used to hearing other voices?

They are not protesting about immigrants. They are protesting about unvetted/undocumented men arriving in their hundreds illegally. Don't you care about laws?? I do.

The KKK committed atrocities, these people protested peacefully. Huge huge difference but you know that. Well, you should.

Peaceful marching doesn't usually involve folks clad head to toe in black wearing masks

What specifically would you like to be done?

I think the French elections will be a factor in what can be done.

It’s a fair point, but lack of arrests doesn’t always mean we want to see a repeat. Look at the soft handling of those morons in Middlesbrough setting fire to cars. Sometimes no intervention is safer, given the lack of resources police have now.

That's a silly comparison. Different situation entirely.

As reported everywhere it was an entirely peaceful protest - whether you agree with the protest or not doesn't change that.

No arrests when crimes are being committed isn't the same as no arrests being made because no one did anything to be arrested for. Surely you wouldn't advocate for arrests simply because you disagree with the premise of the protest or "don't want to see a repeat of it"?

I've just asked my DH whether he's 'had enough' and he said that we should probably all try to calm down a bit. You don't speak for me. 'Our men' indeed.

You do know that an unusually large number of the men taking part in demonstrations against immigrants have convictions for assault against women?
