Masked men at Dover - KKK vibes

MumofCandR · Yesterday 11:53

They are utter cowards and hypocritical. The same ilk will state they're against the burkha and protests by environmental groups etc. but are happy to mask their faces in 'protest' the reality is they're just nasty specimens of humanity, full of people with self righteous white supremacy tendencies. AIBU.

It would take you less than a minute to find that information if you're truly interested, but here you have it 'During the 1920s, Klan local chapters ("klaverns") frequently organized silent parades through towns, often under the cover of night or dusk. Hundreds or thousands of robed, masked Klansmen would march through streets without making a sound or chanting slogans. The total silence was meant to project an omnipresent, eerie authority and convey a menacing message: We are watching you, we are everywhere, and we can act at any moment.'

I've obviously heard of the KKK, but I didn't know about the silent marches.
This makes the Dover stuff even more sinister.

The question was about murders related to this racist crowd

Which racist coward?

Gloriia · Yesterday 18:14

Anyahyacinth · Yesterday 18:09

We’ve already had the murders and burning mosques ..plenty of news coverage of both …Jo Cox M.P. anyone ? Lots more since

David Amess anyone? Ann Widdecombe anyone? Jews targeted anyone?
Manchester arena? Shall we all just list deaths and atrocities or agree that anyone can be a target nowadays and what we do not want is hundreds of undocumented potentially dangerous men entering the country illegally every day to increase that risk.

They're either of that mindset themselves, or refuse to see as you say it's too uncomfortable to think about and they'd rather stick their fingers in their ears instead.

There will be a shift in the EU. It might not be the U.K. first but I can see a falling away from the system we have when the status quo loses its grip.

I sense you’re hoping for a break up of the EU, or at least a shrinking. I don’t see that happened. Hungary decisively rejected Orban and Poland will go through the same process. It’s also a bit curious to me to see a woman (presumably) welcoming the rise of the right in those countries when it has brought with it restrictions on women’s rights.

I think we’ll see Europe try to move more collectively on immigration and finding third country solutions, potentially investing in Africa. But if people think there will be a shift towards simply blocking access or mass deportation they’ll be disappointed.

I'm hoping so too because I can't believe someone really thought Antifa were literally anti fascists.

Please explain the parallels between protests in Dover and KKK

my understanding is that KKK stood for white supremacy - clearly abhorrent

my understanding is that the Dover protesters are anti- small boat illegally landing with economic migrants

in order to support the parallels theory we would have to say that people who are anti - the channel small boats are white supremacists

my experience is that people who are anti small boats feel that way because they believe that small boats contribute to higher welfare costs / tax rises / crime rates etc -
regardless of being black / brown / white Eastern European etc ….

due people truly think that being anti small boats / illegal entry / loss of border control is paramount to white supremacy ?

Yes because it’s about tiny numbers of people fleeing problems we the UK and others have started in their home countries. The people making these protests when interviewed make white supremacist statements and can’t explain why Ukrainian refugees are different

No the trading bloc will probably stay. But the asylum system is straining and voters will shift.

It isn't 'too close for comfort' it is just a bizarre and silly comparison. Offensive for the victims of the KKK.
HTH.

Danny Tommo has a conviction for an armed kidnapping.
Quite surprised anyone would think of him as a leader.

No we wouldn't.
Obviously not all people who are anti the small boat crossings are white supremacists.
But it's a safe enough bet that all white supremacists are anti the small boat crossings, and that they would be highly likely to be amongst the protesters.
These men were masked so we don't know who they are, what they believe or how far they'd go. We've already seen people setting fire to buildings housing immigrants and hurling missiles at homes with children inside.
There are some highly dangerous men who are 'anti small boat crossings' and i can't fathom why you'd want to pretend that they and ordinary people concerned about immigration are one and the same just because they both want to stop the boats.

Two years as well - the kind of joke sentence that would be high in people’s minds if he was black or brown!

Quite frankly the country is on the brink of civil war. There’s just too many divisions. Multiculturalism can’t work, society cannot withstand being pulled in different directions, the gap between rich and poor is unsustainable in a capitalist society, the effects of technology has left too many without meaning, people are exposed to too many conflicting ideologies too easily. There’s too many people in the country for into resources and infrastructure to support.

Rage and protest are happening across the political spectrum (at least they aren’t attacking female police offficers with hammers )

Ozp by making this a left/right thing you are part of the problem but probably can’t see it because you’ve bought the lie about being part of the “virtuous left”

Who would be fighting who in a civil war?
One group of people would have to be fighting another group of people who are citizens of the same country.

Are you thinking the left against the right?
