I’m not afraid of spiders.

however I’ve just sat in frozen shock and terror when a massive spider scuttled past me and came to rest in front of one of my daughters toys.

i dont know how to get across how absolutely huge it was.
I called my husband like a pathetic idiot - I couldn’t move! He thought I was taking the piss and didn’t come down until I literally begged because I’ve never called him for anything like that in 19 years!!!

He was shocked too but promptly got rid of it for me. It was so big - and fast running by - I thought there was a bloody small mouse in the house!!

Feel so bad I’ve wondered how people can be so afraid of spiders- I get it now 😭

I had a huge one run out at me yesterday but equally as I jumped so did the spider !!! It jumped up onto tiptoes and froze ! I genuinely think i gave it a fright ! It was massive but didn’t move at all so I was able to put a bowl over it and leave it for dh to deal with 😂

I know it’s spider season - April and September I think - but I have never ever seen one so big!!

I’m wondering if it’s because of the heat waves this summer. Somehow made them all super giant breeders. Please no more 🤪🫣

The super big hairy ones are terrifying to behold. But they are harmless and the skinny ones eat them funnily enough

One came out from the side of the toilet whilst I was peeing the other night, lucky I was on the loo I quickly grabbed DHs ashtray and popped it over him but it was so small he just about fitted...never again will I moan about DH having a smoke out the bathroom window.

This mofo was told at the time that he was taking the piss - spiders are welcome here as I'm allergic to insect bites but enormous ones are not my preferred variety.

Then he shot off under my washing basket and I haven't seen him again. I need to shake it all out now before I put him on a boil wash by accident.

There's been some whoppers in our house this year and much earlier than normal too

Absolutely, massive beast on the ceiling, reckon it could tell it held all the cards in that situation too 😂 Couldn't walk under it was worried it'd drop on my head. DD thought I'd cut my hand off or something came running downstairs to find me frozen to the spot 🙃 definitely not being unreasonable 😂

It's autumn. They come in the house. They can surprise you very easily. I don't mind picking them up and moving them but they have to go outside as DH detests them.

I have spotted about 30 teeny tiny little orange spiders in my bathroom. I've just let them be. But fingers crossed they don't grow into humungous beasts. There is one of those cellar spiders with the wibbly legs sitting in one corner so I reckon he/she will eat some of the smaller ones.

I climbed out of the shower yesterday and a mahoosive spider fell off the shower door frame and scuttled off across the bathroom floor. It must have been IN THERE WITH ME😬😬 Why can’t they munch other insects discreetly in a corner instead of charging about dramatically, scaring the shit out of innocent people? Bloody attention seeking bastards.

I had one in my hair yesterday morning - thought there was a strand of hair that kept straying over my forehead, went to brush it away and it jumped off!
Don't really mind them at a distance but that made me yelp loudly...

My DIL was reading my DGS his bedtime story. He had his head on his pillow, listening to the story and getting sleepy.

Suddenly an absolutely massive spider crawled onto his pillow. She was struck completely dumb and couldn’t move. He turned his head and had eye to eye contact with the spider. They both shot out of his room and barricaded themselves into another bedroom, calling my DS for help. Luckily he’s brave and fearless and quickly caught the spider and rehomed it into his shed. Even he said it was the largest house spider he had ever seen.

i think it’s the weather we’ve had. I found a very large spider in my living room this morning. It was dead and my poodle looked guilty and was licking her lips.

Try spotting a huntsman spider in the bathroom when you’re having a shower! 😱

I had one drop on me the other night in bed. It ran down my shoulder and I leaped up (most aerobic exercise I've had in a while) and it flipped off into the pillows. Got an angle poise lamp on the bed because no way was I going to risk not finding it. Flipped back the duvet and shook the pillows, and it ran down and got stymied by the folded over duvet. Only about an inch and a half, but it was confused long enough to get a glass and a card to trap it. Released it under the kitchen sink as I won't kill them. Then spent the rest of the night feeling phantom spider crawling whenever my long hair touched me. I try not to be squeamish and even watch jumping spider videos to try and believe they're cute. I think I'm kidding myself 😆

I found a big dead one inside my pillow case when changing the bed yesterday <<shudder>>

They do seem extra big this year. Wonder if this is a side effect of the hot summer and global warning.

yep I’ve seen some bloody huge ones over the last couple of weeks and they seem to be coming out earlier than they have in previous years

We’re in Scotland so the weather hasn’t been as extreme, but DD came shooting out of her room yesterday morning as one emerged from the piles of clothes on her floor. She’s normally fine with them but apparently this one was a big bastard. If it encourages her to pick up her clothes I will personally catch flies for it!

Spiders are lovely! Even the biggest of them are tiny in comparison to us, and there are no poisonous ones in this country. To those who are scared of spiders: woman up and take it as a challenge to not be afraid of them. 🕸

I've had some massive ones lately that even scare the cat! The last one, unfortunately, had a text book thrown on it which I then jumped up and down on.

A few years ago at work a spider landed on my hand and ran up my sleeve.... unfortunately I was right in front of a security camera at the time so was never able to live down my frantic efforts to get it.

It is the mating season so you see the males moving around looking for the females. You generally don’t see the females. They are bigger.

I am not afraid of spiders but if they are really big I catch them in a saucepan and then put the lid on so they can't get out until I have taken them outside.

Spider week is coming. When there's a load of rain in September the little creeps appear from everywhere. My house isn't bad but my mother's house was horrendous, never seen spiders like it, we always thought or was because there were a lot of trees in the garden and ivy growing up the house
