Job interview for 12pm

10 candidates all booked in for 12pm being seen individually by one person.

So whoever is here last will presumably be interviewed an hour later than booked.

Did he get his 9 year old to arrange everything? Crazy to interview so many people in the first place let alone the same arrival time. I'd wait it out, be the best interview then tell him you couldn't possibly consider working anywhere so unprofessional.

Please do it and tell us all!

Edited

I hope I could pull this off. I think I’m a catch!

He would be a nightmare to work for.

Mindthenicedeadpeople · 02/09/2026 13:01

3 out!

3 out!

Please stay we need you to tell us about the actual interview 😂😂😂

AuntieBiotics · 02/09/2026 13:02

If you do stick it out and they ask "and do you have any questions for us?" that is the perfect opportunity to ask what makes them think this behaviour is acceptable,

Mindthenicedeadpeople · 02/09/2026 13:03

I think number 5 was the lucky one.

Did you sneak out, or make a flouncing announcement?

Laurmolonlabe · 02/09/2026 13:04

I wouldn't want to work for this company, no matter where I was in the queue- fundamentally disorganised and doesn't care about wasting your time- neither are good signs.

Mindthenicedeadpeople · 02/09/2026 13:02

I left.

Tell me you told them how utterly ridiculous they are? And you wouldn't take a job with them because of the complete lack of consideration they've shown everyone !

But also.

I'm disappointed we won't get any more live updates 😭😭😭

Also as an aside when did it become normal to wear trackie bottoms and old trainers to an interview?

Well exactly so these short sharp interviews are a great way of sorting the wheat from the chaff.

I bet she wasn’t in there for 8 minutes.

She was the 15 minute one!

This something that is often shown on in tv shows and films, so I wonder if they just don’t know much about recruiting and think this is how it’s done?

Flocke · 02/09/2026 13:10

What position was the job for?? Reception? Admin? Dental nurse?

Ohdearnotthisagain · 02/09/2026 13:11

That’s one of the rudest things I’ve ever heard.

BugOnARugDrinkingTeaFromAMug · 02/09/2026 13:16

I am astonished that anyone would think it's ok to do this.

Also a bit sad you left, I was interest in what would happen during the interview.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 02/09/2026 13:18

Absolutely appalling treatment. I'd write to the arsehole and tell him exactly why you left. His mind games tell you a lot about him. I don't think I would have left without telling him this face to face tbh.

When your sent by the Job Centre but don't really want a job.

HenriettaHippopotamus · 02/09/2026 13:21

I'd probably leave too. Not that it's ever acceptable to do that format, but if you do it that way at least take people in the order they show up. You said you were one of the first so you had to watch people who came later going in. Very annoying.

Mindthenicedeadpeople · 02/09/2026 13:21

I have reviewed the practice online. I just feel for the other girls sitting there. There were 3 ‘older’ ladies, myself included. The other two were seen. The rest were all young girls.

blueberrycloud · 02/09/2026 13:21

Oops I voted wrong but yes that is very unreasonable of them not you.

Twatterati · 02/09/2026 13:22

Is it some sort of test - they hope the most assertive person will stand up and ask “what the hell’s going” and they know they’ve got the perfect receptionist?

Weird. And horrible, far too inconsiderate of people and their time.

Another2Cats · 02/09/2026 13:23

tripleginandtonic · 02/09/2026 12:23

Common practice in a lot of jobs

The only sort of situation I've seen this is where potential recruits are invited for half a day and there are aptitude tests to take etc and interviews take place during that time.

But in that case they are actually informed that they will be there for half a day.

Theunamedcat · 02/09/2026 13:23

Are glassdoor reviews still a thing?

LlynTegid · 02/09/2026 13:25

If you are unsuccessful, please leave feedback. Let the Job Centre know as well- I'd be tempted given what you have witnessed to be letting the professional body know.
