AIBU sleeping arrangement

I’m visiting my parents this weekend, as are my 2 sisters (we’re all adults 23,29 and 32). I’m bringing my husband, sisters are going alone. I’m currently 19 weeks pregnant with twins, this is relevant.
all the bedrooms have a single bed in them, prior to pregnancy id just share with my husband and we’d have a bad nights sleep but get over it. Now im pregnant sleeping is a bit more uncomfortable and I need a pillow under my belly etc. so someone has to sleep on the sofa. I can’t make hubby sleep on the sofa because the living room is the walk way through to the kitchen so he’d have no privacy. So the options are for pregnant me or my sisters to go on the sofa. I’ve asked both my sisters if they’d give their bed up for me, they’ve both said no. My one sister even had a tantrum over it and said she just won’t visit if I’m going to take “her” bed (bear in mind she hasn’t lived at my parents house for 7 years).
I’m feeling a little disappointed in my sisters and that they wouldn’t let their pregnant sister have a bed for a weekend. My parents have offered their bed to my husband and I as a result but it doesn’t seem fair as they are both older and need the bed too.
Am I being unreasonable expecting someone to give up a bed for me? I would never ask at any other time in my life, it’s just one weekend during my pregnancy.

She's not spoken to her husband yet. Why is everyone so keen to vilify a man who is probably enjoying his day unaware he's being dragged through the mud by a coven of online women. I would bet my house he's fine to sleep on the sofa 😂

And more to the point, if he doesn't insist on sleeping on the sofa (regardless of who else offers), he's a bit of a twat, isn't he?

littlemousebigcheese · Today 17:20

I just can’t imagine a house that has 3 tiny single bedrooms and one double?!

WildlyInappropriate · Today 17:27

Having read all the OP’s posts (and read between the lines) I’m now convinced I have the backstory.

The bungalow as built had three bedrooms, two doubles and a single. OP says that one bedroom was divided by a new wall, thus creating three singles. My view is that OP was one of the sisters forced to share the double in childhood, and she and her sister fought to such a degree that The Wall was instigated. The other sister got the slightly less tiny room this created and OP has been seething about it ever since.

Now she is in her holy state of pregnancy, she wants this sister’s room as revenge, and thinks her parents will support her in that since she is carrying the hallowed first grandchildren.

No other solution will suffice than the displacement of her evil sister from her childhood bedroom.

JemappelleClaude · Today 17:27

Hotel? I'd have been so happy to have privacy when pregnant and needing a break from family.

momtoboys · Today 17:28

Another post where opinions are solicited but the OP will fight to the death that they are right. Why ask for the opinions in the first place?

Shinyandnew1 · Today 17:28

strawberrylemons · Today 15:39

Thanks! I was actually talking to my mum about this and she wants to get some camping beds. The house was a great set up for 3 sisters growing up but not ideal for adults coming to visit 😂

I think once babies are here we won’t be staying there, one of those things we’ll figure out I guess

Where would these camping beds go when they are being used (you say none of the bedrooms have any floor space to put them down in)? Where will they be stored when not in use (you say the house is tiny!)?

Yeah, like all 4 feet wide.

That's what I asked. @strawberrylemons hasn't answered me yet though. If there is no room in ANY of the tiny single bedrooms for a single blow up mattress, where on earth are these camping beds going to go?!!

Northernladdette · Today 17:32

Your parents should decide who sleeps where, with your condition in mind. Your sister sounds selfish 😳

FirmSnake · Today 17:34

Ved · Today 17:30

Yeah, like all 4 feet wide.

And they all shared a singular cupboard, that cant possibly be moved. Yet is was apparently the perfect house.

WildLeader · Today 17:34

TheSandgroper · Today 10:17

And shame upon your parents for not standing up to their daughter when another daughter is in need.

I wouldn’t ever be forgetting.

damned right

my mum chose my sister to share with her in the double bed next to the toilet shoving me into a twin room with single beds

i tried to suggest (6m pg) that id be better off nearer the loo and in a bigger bed, but my mum had a massive tantrum because it was her wedding the next day and that she deserved to be in the bigger bed

I ended up shoving the 2 twins together in the twin room- which was over the bloody hotel kitchen too. So was noisy and smelly.

i never forgot how she made me feel, either hindsight this was the very beginning of the end of my relationship with her

@strawberrylemons get a hotel. Show them you matter. Draw the boundary now.

of course your H can’t sleep on the sofa, it’s intrusive on the rest of the household if they’re getting up for dogs etc.

YourOliveBalonz · Today 17:34

Your sisters are unreasonable, for a start it sounds like you are all visiting so it’s not ‘their’ rooms to have a say over anyway, your parents should determine the sleeping arrangements. If your parents were no longer living in the home you grew up in that would be more apparent to all of you, and your parents would just be telling you all where you are going in their house.

This.
When my now adult children return home l decide who sleeps where if there is any issue. It's my home. Usually the kids have their own rooms but if it was a situation like this l would call it...end of story.

OP, you have the patience of a saint with the replies on this thread! It’s been an endurance for me just reading it. I can’t count the amount of times you’ve had to repeat yourself.

It’s one of those issues where there’s no real solution so people tend to victim-blame instead, saying you’re ’refusing options’ etc. Ignore it all. Sounds like you’ll end up on the sofa due to your selfish sister but hopefully it won’t be too uncomfortable for you. Good luck with the twins. With the patience and tolerance you’ve shown here, you’ll be a great mum.

Actually I think it's OP manipulating things to try to force one of the sisters to give up their rooms. It's a non event if her DH just sleeps on the sofa which is clearly the obvious solution, but just think how much mileage she'll get out of her 'meanie' sisters making her sleep on the sofa when she's PREGNANT with TWINS!

I think the sisters can see straight through OPs manipulative ways (probably used to it), and are quite rightly not pandering to her.

We can't know of course, but there's definitely something in the "I was always made to give up my room" - no mention of the sisters having to give up theirs? Maybe OP thinks it's their turn? A chance for her mum to be on her side, as opposed to kicking her out of her room?

In all seriousness OP, all this insistence on how you look after guests is just silly if it means that a pregnant woman sleeps on a sofa.

There are four beds - one double, three singles and the sofa. Six people. Two couples, one of which can't share a single, and two singles. And two dogs.

Whatever your opinions about hosts, you aren't one here, you're equal to your sister's and husband - but your parents even suggested giving up their room, which even makes more sense than you taking the sofa, if they are so set on none of their guests sleeping on the sofa, then include the sisters in that.

And just to add a last anecdote, when I had people.over for my hen, I gave up my bed and slept in a tent, letting the pregnant women have my kingsize.

Show them you matter? This is honestly bat shit.
Each sibling has a bed, OP has brought her spouse along despite knowing there’s no space for him, so of course he has the sofa.
The dogs are his and OPs!!
Why on earth would one of the sisters be deprioritised for OP’s husband?

Bogstandardname · Today 17:38

Get a hotel room. You and hubby will.both be comfortable and no bed drama necessary.

StressedOutPeanut · Today 17:40

Get a tent and stick him in the garden. 😂

If she ends up on the sofa it’s only because her own husband has taken her bed!
Seriously what sort of man would actually be happy to do that?
OPs DH taking her bed isn’t the sisters fault.

You're unreasonable to not expect your husband to sleep on the sofa.

Autumnyears · Today 17:41

How much does 2 nights in a Travel Lodge cost for pete sake?

Bogstandardname · Today 17:42

Having read more of your posts, heavily pregnant, taking the dogs, no room for husband, can't afford a hotel, just stay at home.

fumingrightnow1 · Today 17:42

Aren't you concerned that you're about to have twins but can't afford £40 for a hotel room

SandyHappyPerson · Today 17:47

Talk to your husband and ask him what he would like to do. All this faffing around 'on his behalf' sounds like it is creating a bit of bad feeling.
