AIBU sleeping arrangement

I’m visiting my parents this weekend, as are my 2 sisters (we’re all adults 23,29 and 32). I’m bringing my husband, sisters are going alone. I’m currently 19 weeks pregnant with twins, this is relevant.
all the bedrooms have a single bed in them, prior to pregnancy id just share with my husband and we’d have a bad nights sleep but get over it. Now im pregnant sleeping is a bit more uncomfortable and I need a pillow under my belly etc. so someone has to sleep on the sofa. I can’t make hubby sleep on the sofa because the living room is the walk way through to the kitchen so he’d have no privacy. So the options are for pregnant me or my sisters to go on the sofa. I’ve asked both my sisters if they’d give their bed up for me, they’ve both said no. My one sister even had a tantrum over it and said she just won’t visit if I’m going to take “her” bed (bear in mind she hasn’t lived at my parents house for 7 years).
I’m feeling a little disappointed in my sisters and that they wouldn’t let their pregnant sister have a bed for a weekend. My parents have offered their bed to my husband and I as a result but it doesn’t seem fair as they are both older and need the bed too.
Am I being unreasonable expecting someone to give up a bed for me? I would never ask at any other time in my life, it’s just one weekend during my pregnancy.

Buy a fold up bed? Proper frame one with barred, mine has been fantastic, then you sleep in single, DH sleeps in fold up bed. The fold up will be useful when your dc is older and poor key, you can put it next to cot

Your husband stops being a wet blanket and sleeps on the sofa, obviously. If he's too precious to do that, then book a hotel room. It's really not OK to kick one of your sisters out of their rooms because your husband is being pathetic.

Tbf it's not the husband complaining it's the OP who is determined to force one of her sisters to give up their bed I can only assume for some deep childhood payback issue or something as none of this makes any sense otherwise

Op I have to agree with many posters on here that you are BU. You keep insisting that your dh cannot sleep on the couch due to privacy but where is your sisters privacy? You and your dh would be taking up 2 bedrooms, where is your sister meant to get dressed, leave her bags have some personal space during the day if your dh has taken her bedroom? That's the difference in my opinion. If your dh sleeps on the sofa he still has a bedroom he can go to, yours! He can have a quick nap there if he didn't sleep well on the sofa, he can go there once everyone is up and using the communal space. He can go there for quiet space if everyone is still up and chatting. It is completely unreasonable that you and your dh would commandeer two of the bedrooms leaving only a sofa for your sister.

This. And the repeated bleating of 'but he's a guest!'. OP, that's your hangup. You've said DH doesn't mind being on the sofa - so let him. It's two nights. He'll be having far more uncomfortable nights once the twins are here - you both will. This is not a big deal. You just seem to think your feelings about DH being a 'guest' are paramount, to the extent that one of your sisters ought to give up her personal space for him.

I don’t understand why you are annoyed with your sisters and not your husband? What does he need privacy for - surely he can get changed etc in your room? Would he actually let one of your sisters sleep on the sofa so he can have a bed? Sounds like a right dickhead x

Why would she be annoyed at her husband?

Kalioko · Today 16:58

I can't see how there are 3 bedrooms in this house which all can't manage to have someone sleeping on the floor? That seems a bit unbelievable. Even if not on an air mattress but on a folded duvet? How do you even get to the single beds in these rooms if there is no floor space at all?!

Binnyforthewin · Today 17:01

Just book a local hotel.

“I’ll sleep on a bed of nails for you but I draw the line at a sofa” 😂

But all of the bedrooms are only the size of a coffin. No room for ANYthing in any of them apparently! 😎

AggroPotato · Today 17:06

He can crash on the sofa, you're overthinking it.

Easterchicken · Today 17:07

Why can't your husband just sleep on an air bed in the room your sleeping in??

Think it's time your parents invested in a couple new beds and maybe a sofa bed if families are growing and changing

I presume it's a special occasion which is why you are all visiting at once?

Waytoohothot · Today 17:07

What kind of man would not sleep on the sofa!! Seriously what kind of man would take a womans bed and make her sleep on the sofa, i think hes in for a huge shock when you give birth and you cant pander to him anymore

Why do people keep saying this? She’s clearly said he would sleep on the sofa.

DangerousAlchemy · Today 17:09

RVectensian · Today 10:50

Indeed. Why is this so complicated?

OP has said multiple times there's no room on the floor of any of the 3 single bedrooms for an air matrress . Do keep up 🤣

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · Today 17:09

strawberrylemons · Today 10:52

I’m tempted to add photos of all three bedrooms to show everyone what the rooms look like, people don’t seem to believe that not everyone has big rooms in their house! Two of the rooms are narrow and the other one has a wardrobe in it, there’s nowhere to move it to so we can get an airbed in.

Have we had pictures yet? I love floor plan pictures.

chirrupybird · Today 17:11

Husband sleeps on sofa why does it matter more that he has no privacy compared to your sisters? Just buy him pyjamas if he sleeps naked usually or at least shorts and a robe.

If he's happy to sleep on the sofa what's the problem?

Justthethingsthatyoudointhisgarden · Today 17:12

You are being absolutely ridiculous. Your husband is on the sofa, end of.

In fact no one can even sleep in the singles because there’s actually not room for a door!

BeGreySnail · Today 17:13

Roll out camping mattress, car seats down, little lantern. Job done.

Stompythedinosaur · Today 17:16

You're being ridiculous, you can't expect 2 beds while your dsis sleeps on the sofa!

Let your dh sleep on the sofa if you can't share.

Ved · Today 17:16

strawberrylemons · Today 15:39

Thanks! I was actually talking to my mum about this and she wants to get some camping beds. The house was a great set up for 3 sisters growing up but not ideal for adults coming to visit 😂

I think once babies are here we won’t be staying there, one of those things we’ll figure out I guess

But where on earth are these extra camping beds going to go? You said the house - sorry bungalow - is very small, and not even a blow up single mattress can fit into ANY of the bedrooms, along side the single bed(s) in there!

She's not spoken to her husband yet. Why is everyone so keen to vilify a man who is probably enjoying his day unaware he's being dragged through the mud by a coven of online women. I would bet my house he's fine to sleep on the sofa 😂

The floor plan of the OP's parents bungalow will almost certainly be outing.

Actually I think it's OP manipulating things to try to force one of the sisters to give up their rooms. It's a non event if her DH just sleeps on the sofa which is clearly the obvious solution, but just think how much mileage she'll get out of her 'meanie' sisters making her sleep on the sofa when she's PREGNANT with TWINS!

I think the sisters can see straight through OPs manipulative ways (probably used to it), and are quite rightly not pandering to her.

littlemousebigcheese · Today 17:19

The Golden penis must have a bed. The golden penis can’t possibly sleep on a sofa where someone might lay eyes on him. Your parents weirdly agree that he must be kept hidden from all others and couldn’t possibly sleep on a sofa that others may glimpse at 7am. You are pregnant with twins ffs, you need to be kind to yourself and sleep in your bed. If you can’t drive or stand up or do a journey on your own, you need a bed to sleep in and not the busy sofa everyone walks past all night long.
