AIBU to feel homesick on the first night away?

Anyone else get this? I’m on the first night of my holidays away and I feel kind of homesick and scared. I would really like to be in my own bed right now. I miss my dog! And the hilarious thing is, I’m only away for three nights 🙄.
Anyone want to empathise/call me a spoilt cow?

Whereabouts have you gone - are you still in the UK?

I tend to feel disconcerted on my first night away, too.

How far away are you ? And no as an adult I would not be homesick at all . Do you think you will have a good time . Relax and enjoy .

I get like this abroad. Can’t fucking stand the first night.

Lots of people take their dog, so maybe look for a UK place (with the weather we had this year, sitting by an outdoor pool in Britain will be just as nice), and you won't have to hand around in an airport!

I know what you mean. The first night i am a bit nervous. I always Wonder if it will be good and Where everything is. Once i am there a day or two i am fine. But i only ever do a week. Like my own bed and normal routine. Nights always harder too. But 1pm tomorrow you will be in full holiday flow and fine.

I’m in Croatia - so not on an arctic expedition or anything. I’ve a fair bit of stress in my life at the moment and I guess I thought I’d reach my destination and gloriously unwind, but not a chance. Wherever you go, there you bloody are:

Wow. Are you me? That is spooky. Just came back from Portugal, first night I’m perched on the edge of the bed and I think, where ever you go, there you are!!! 😮

Also had a bit of a stressful time tbh. Just really wasn’t feeling it this year, I couldn’t wait to get home. So i definitely understand how you feel.

Maybe I AM you, a parallel version who thought she’d give it another lash in Croatia, ha ha. But seriously, sorry it didn’t go well for you, I guess sometimes being a stranger in a strange land is not what’s needed. Hope you’re feeling better now.

I now accept that I will be like a rabbit in headlights on my first day/night and look forward to waking up on the second day and getting my holiday started.

Fearne Cotton recently posted that she has to take anxiety meds on the first night of her hols so I don’t think we’re alone in this.

Try and get some sleep and you’ll be like a different person tomorrow.

aw thanks that is actually comforting. Bloody wish I had Fearne Cotton’s meds right now, and also her hair.

You’re definitely not a spoilt cow 😂 The first night away can feel strange, especially when you’re missing home and your usual routine. Three nights will fly by, and I’m sure your dog will forgive you!

GardenDiscriminated · Today 06:05

Of course you miss your dog - I always did anywhere I went, hopefully you’ll feel better after a sleep
