AIBU to feel panicked about Russia bombing the UK?

Currently having an actual panic attack about Russia bombing the UK and me and my kid dying.

Call up your GP tomorrow and ask for some help with your anxiety. This is not normal or healthy.

Right now, focus on your breathing and use grounding techniques to calm yourself down. E.g. find 5 things around you which are blue.

But have you never thought that Putin would do it because he might commit suicide and he'll be gone anyway so why not take the rest of the world with him. He's nothing to lose.

Not going to happen, honestly. Putin is failing in Ukraine (to the horrible detriment of his own people) and is just making empty threats, because even if he doesn't care, the people with access to the missiles know what would happen if he did set off a nuke.

It's a bit of a crap way of being really, but it's preserved some kind of peace for 80 years.

Putin is very risk averse. He isn’t a mad man. He invaded Ukraine because he thought he would win. He KNOWS he wouldn’t win against NATO. Even NATO without the US is stronger than Russia.

This idea that Putin would want to start a war that would result in his own country as a suicide attempt is just nonsense. He has children, grandchild he loves and wants to leave a legacy.

Now - there likely will be some sort of lower level excursion, such as hacking, or arson. They have done this consistently since the start of the Ukraine war but ALWAYS low enough as to not warrant a military response. Because he knows he would not win. Just think rationally. And stop reading tabloids, including Sky News. BBC or AP news don’t lead with these dramatic headlines.

There is a page on a well known social media site called doomsday debunked. I suggest joining. Lots of very intelligent and educated people able to debunk headlines and political noise and give calm and clarity.

Putin threatened the U.K. yesterday. There were cyber attacks on regional U.K. airports today. I suspect that was the Russian retaliation.

Even if he does (which he won’t), there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it. So there’s no point in worrying, but I’d speak to the GP about getting some help.

Russia's been busy the past few days! Part of their whole method of operating is to keep their enemies on edge and off balance with empty threats. They think it's more efficient than actually fighting or practicing diplomacy.

In any case, so far they have only threatened to strike UK military targets - and actually didn't even threaten, just pointed out that they could. (Which way to Salisbury Cathedral?) They also said that they could target sites inside the UK manufacturing drones used in Ukraine - which kind of suggests that Andy Burnham made the correct decision in providing the Storm Shadow blueprints directly to Ukraine, which is what apparently set Russia off in the first place.

They're also huffing at the USA today because the head of the CIA made a point of going to Moscow and warning them not to attack NATO. Not sure if someone in the Kremlin is off script here, because you don't even need a special Trump decoder ring for this one.
