Were your parks closed during COVID?
Not playing areas - entire parks

I'm curious - ours were open but I know some towns had theirs closed. I'm wondering how usual this was in England.

If they were closed, where was it suggested that you exercised?

Yabu - yes they were closed

Park open, play area closed off, swings chained up to make sure no illicit joy was obtained by any child, but actual green bit so you could go for your one miserable walk a day was open.

As above- parks open, play areas closed. I'd be interested in you naming the towns that shut whole parks?

Like others just play areas taped off. Most of the parks near me don’t have fencing. It’s just a green space I suppose they could of taped off the paths but you could just walk on the grass and deny all knowledge.

I cried with joy on 4/7/20 when I passed a council worker cutting off those hateful padlocks on the playground. They should never have deprived children of the chance for active play for months like that.

The park fields were open, but most have no way of being closed off anyway without bringing in festival type fencing.

Our parks and playgrounds remained open however, one of each pair of swings was removed 😂

London - we lived close to one of the royal parks. The playground was fenced off (although people still lifted their kids in), the toilets were closed. The park was packed most days but in warm weather the bushes absolutely stank of human waste, to the point that we stopped using it.

Just play areas and some benches taped off.

I think ours,were open but l had no young children so didn't notice really. However we live by the beach and most people just went there, it was packed most days.

Fields open.
Play park locked.
Adult exercise equipment wrapped in xaution tape, that detoriated over the months but never removed.

Parks were open (Bristol), not sure about play areas as I no longer have young children.

The playgrounds were but not the parks.
And we are lucky to live right by some huge woods so the children could all go and climb trees for hours. Its horrible to remember how tough it was for some people

Local park was open - the play facilities - basketball hoops, bench presses, table tennis, skateboard ramps were all fenced off - within hours the local kids had removed all the metal fencing by cutting the zip cables and carried on as usual. The actions of the local kids filled me with optimism.
