To think Dolly Parton was some sort of prophet or philosopher

There have been loads of clips of Dolly Parton interviews around and articles with quotes and the more I watch and read, the more I think she was some kind of font of wisdom. An oracle. A prophet.

Her approach to life, everything, she was like Yoda in rhinestones. Just the perfect attitude, and a long, productive, inspirational life.

”Legend” is thrown around liberally but in her case it is fully deserved.

The note she wrote to Eminem after he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is further evidence of her class. Acknowledging she didn’t know much about rap but that she thought he was great at what he did and that she hoped to meet him in person some day.

She definitely wasn't dumb and Dolly only knows what was under those many wigs.

I’m not into country music but I loved Dolly. The world is a poorer place without her but hopefully she’s left behind enough of a legacy to inspire other people to be more Dolly.

I loved Dolly and I cried yesterday when I watched her nephew’s announcement. She was one of a kind and the world was a better place for her being in it.

Ive been pondering about the plastic surgery thing because I’ve been thinking about Madonna recently and how awesome she looked before she started to really go for it with the surgery. I loved Madonna in the 80s and 90s. Now she’s just grotesque and I feel very sorry for her that she clearly doesnt feel she is allowed to age.

So why am I ok with Dolly and her enhancements but not with Madonna?

Maybe the message was nothing more than “This is how I like to look.” Doesn’t need to be a commentary on all women.

I think she was an incredible human being and very inspirational with her warmth and kindness. I keep seeing idiotic stuff on social media, all men, harping on about how big her breasts were. I know she often joked about them but I find it depressing that men are focusing on that, even in a jokey way, feels disrespectful and reductive.

I want to know who it was that issued the Order, was King Charles a Dolly fan?

One has to assume that Dolly knew that buying herself enormous breasts would result in men noticing and even commenting on her enormous breasts.

Best of all, unlike so many entertainers, she kept her politics and her lectures mainly to herself. If she had something political to say she was respectful and careful with her words. She didn't assume she was better than anybody who disagreed with her or wish them ill, as most of Hollywood and the mainstream entertainment industry cannot apparently help doing.

That's why everyone loved her, she was actually kind - not a bE kInDeR lecturing everyone else and demanding everyone agree with her.

She was wonderful, she will be truly missed.

That was her message and we loved her for it. Rest in paradise Dolly!

I went to a Dolly concert with a friend who was an avid fan. I liked her well enough but loved her afterwards. Smart, funny, kind, talented and so warm.

Dolly put her money where her mouth was. The only thing that perplexed me was where the hell did she put her organs?

Her story was that there was a 'loose woman' in her town that her ma was very sniffy about, but Dolly thought looked fabulous and who she wanted to emulate in her look - and so she did ! With humour, dignity and grace. ✨✨✨

I saw a clip today where she said on Letterman that her number one pet peeve was “nobody notices I’ve got a great ass too!” I think she’d be okay with the attention.
I also saw a quote that I wholeheartedly agree with that said “I’m fairly well atheist and have been for decades, but Dolly Parton is in Heaven with Jesus now. That’s simply a fact, and I’ll hear no arguments, no matter how vast the cosmos or whatever.”

My favourite Dolly quote is "the way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain".

She was just a thoroughly decent human being. That is so rare in public life these days that she is seen as a saint, but truthfully everyone should behave like her in her interactions with others.
