Dogs in restaurants - I am done!

The hill that I will die on. Dogs should not be allowed in eating establishments.

Just had another lunch spoilt as a family came in with 3, yes 3, large dogs and sat down at the table beside us. It’s gross, unhygienic and anti social. If I wanted to eat surrounded by animals I’d grab a takeaway and go and sit in a vet’s waiting room.

Close to £100 wasted on a lunch where I had a dog licking it’s bumhole in my line of vision.

This is the problem isn't it. Your dog is not human, it is a dog. You can feel however you like about your pet, but you cannot expect anyone else to be as besotted as you are.

Very few restaurants actually allow this op, so maybe next time just ask the policy if it upsets you. As said it’s typical in cafes and pubs, but actual restaurants .

it doesn’t bother me,I like dogs and usually give them a pet when I see them in the pub when we go for dinner.

So most delicate little flowers here are icky about dogs.
Kids are germ carriers, louder than dogs ans a pain in the arse to anyone trying to have a quiet meal of just don't like kids.
My dog goes everywhere, he is obedient, gentle and well behaved.
Most kids on the other hand are snot covered germ mobiles but we are subjected to their antics because they are someone's beloved spawn.
Get real, Ghandi said civilisation is judged by the way they treat their animals. Most of you are so up your own arses with how perfect your kids are you don't realise that dogs are and always will be the preferable alternative.
Kids should be left at home, so the rest of us can relax.

Dog owner and agree. Dogs should be allowed only in dog areas of the establishment (if the place is large and there is a separate space) or preferably outside area only.

I am surprised as all the dog friendly eating places in my local town have stickers saying dogs are allowed. When we go to any other place we always look for a dog friendly place and see stickers on windows and/or doors. I don't see otherwise how dog owners are meant to know if somewhere allows dogs or not

In all my many years on earth I have never been subjected to a child loudly licking their bumhole yards away from where I am eating.

That’s my experience- it’s a job to find anywhere dog free now.
It's not too bad if places at least have designated areas for dogs , but I had an incident where a couple brought 2 dogs to the dog free section. They were asked to move by the waitress but the woman initially refused and there was a stand off .

But Greyhounds are professional dogs and know how to behave in public and have nice clean short coats and a calm manner. If every dog was a greyhound there would be no issues. I avoid places that permit dogs because there are so many owners who just don't keep them under control, but I'd have no problem with somewhere that just let greyhounds in.

I'm on holiday and can't leave my dogs unattended at the accommodation.

The cafes that accept dogs get my business.

It’s not always advertised as dog friendly though. And don’t even get me started on hotels and B and Bs

So ring and ask if you're so bothered, or look on their website. It's really not difficult.

They try it and see if they get away with it.

I’m a dog lover and owner and I agree.

I don’t mind well behaved dogs in a pub garden as long as they can settle under the bench well out of anyone’s way, keep quiet and keep themselves to themselves. Inside - nope.

This is literally what happens with guide dogs, which are allowed everywhere.

I totally agree with you. I have 2 sons who hate dogs and a lot of places are dog friendly so bloody annoying

Make sure you leave a bad review and complain to the regional manager. Disgusting.
