AIBU to mention expanded free school meal eligibility for families?

Just wanted to make sure that everyone is aware that Free School Meals have been expanded. My children are now entitled even though they never have been in the past (the oldest is now an adult). This will make such a difference to the remaining years of my kids education (although one has left school and the second is in sixth form, my youngest still has a few years left). I only found out via the youngest’s school and would not have applied otherwise as wouldn’t have realised that FSM had been expanded.

Every child whose parents claim Uc are now entitled.

I’ve heard there are delays getting school systems onboarding the children to free whoever.

Some schools using booking sites such as parent pay where you need to book meals in advance by a few weeks are still being charged as the school haven’t updated their systems to be ready for them going back to school and getting a meal.

It seems to cover 16-19 too but might need to have a look around the financial support section of the college / sixth form.

It is going to help so many families it’s great.

I just hope schools get enough funding for staff to prepare the extra meals

I think this is only England so not everyone benefits
