Child protection order and worried for my sons welfare

Afternoon,

im writing here to see if i can get some advice on my ex partner and him maybe not safeguarding our son properly?

our gorgeous DS (15MO) has been staying with his dad a lot recently , and although he comes home clean and well fed I have 2 small issues I don’t know if I should bring up to our current social worker? (DS is on child protection plan due to DV and my MH)

firstly he’s been smoking weed when he has him as I’ve seen the paraphernalia around when I have picked DS up (also spoke to him about it and persists he doesn’t smoke around DS)
not to mention the house smells of the stuff!

lastly ex partner has been seen on a swinging website by mutual friends and had a status up when he’s been having DS for people to come around…. I haven’t approached this subject with him yet as I don’t want to embarrass him to be honest, but don’t really think it’s okay suggesting people come over for sex with DS there.

is this a job for our social worker or shall I leave it?

Yes you tell them. Was it DV from this partner?

Loulou4022 · 25/08/2026 14:39

Definitely tell your social worker! It’s not ok for your ex to be smoking weed around a child or having random strangers around for sex!! Nothing wrong with those things per se but absolutely not when he is the responsible adult for a child!!

Pinkangelxo · 25/08/2026 14:39

Yes verbal abuse from him and police got involved once.

Why does he have any custody anyway if there was DV?
A CPP is very serious and there must be a lot going on for your boy to have ended up on one, I assume he started on a CIN plan and then was upgraded?
Don't raise it with him directly, ring the SW now.

localnotail · 25/08/2026 14:40

How on Earth your is DS allowed to spend time with DV perpetrator unsupervised?
Contact your SW and stop the visits until they do the full check on your ex.

Uricon2 · 25/08/2026 14:42

Telling the SW will be far better than them finding out from another source. A CP plan is serious and you need to be fully engaged, which involves sharing relevant info about things that affect your DS.

Absolutely yes.

WellThatIsABitMad · 25/08/2026 15:23

Yes you need to tell the social worker. Your child is a baby.

cestlavielife · 25/08/2026 15:25

Tell the social worker
Why are you sending ds there overnight?

Maybe he did nothing to the child?

Or maybe the OP has been the cause of the child protection and doesn't want to say

It doesn't add up anyway

Pinkangelxo · 25/08/2026 15:57

The reason for the Cp plan was because of my mental health

Do you have support? Is your child safe? In either parents home?

unless you have evidence of these things you will get accused of parental alienation so tread carefully.

only raise this with the sw when you have proof.

was the DV formally recorded ?

What is your MH condition?

doglikescheeseontoast · 25/08/2026 16:16

OP, please start at the beginning. Where is your son supposed to live, and who with?

The CP Plan - under what category is it, and what were the concerns that led to it? You mention DV - are you victim, perpetrator (or both)?

There’s probably a lot more to this. Verbal abuse alone wouldn't mean SSD involvement

Looks like we have an unreliable narrator here.

Favouritefruits · 25/08/2026 17:56

Why are you even asking! Of course you tell the SW everything when it’s things around drugs and sex! I wouldn’t be sending my child again until the weed was stopped!

WashinIsNeverDone · 25/08/2026 18:03

Wait what does the swingers thing actully say? Thats the bit that worries me the most tbh why would he want people round when he has baby? He surely gets time without baby?
