Upper Middle Class not well travelled AIBU?

There are some very wealthy folk we know & some I'm acquaintances with on fb from college. All seem to run off similar schedule for holidays... Christmas skiing in France/Switzerland (same place every year) Midterm said place again, summer is always spent somewhere in France ,Italy or Greece (but always the same town)
That's it never different countries... it seems to me they are not well travelled & that familiarity is more important than going somewhere new for the heck of it! Aibu?

I would agree with you, but not sure if I'd take much issue with it. I feel that upper middle classes seem more sociable than other people. Holidays always revolve around friends, and they seem to have couple / family friends. I know a few who holiday a lot but in a very rigid way. I also know many WC or MC people who are very set in their ways holiday wise too.

Where I live there are a lot of upper MC people who have holiday homes in a particular coastal village and many have small boats there too. Dh works with a lot of them. They rush out of work on a long weekend to go to their holiday home and spend the whole weekend socialising with each other, eating in the same restaurants and then spend the rest of the year talking about the amazing time they had in this village doing what sounds like exactly the same thing over with the same people. I must be missing something but it sounds boring to me but they seem very happy about it so good on them.

OR Whistler and the Bahamas… depending on how rich they are 😆

I do remember my DD saying her flatmate had nothing to talk about AA they went to the same hotel in Spain every year. I think if you just do this it’s missing out on wonderful things you could see and do. I don’t get this bit people like familiarity.

Spot on @User7989776 this is exactly it

I guess we're all creatures of habit. There families all have kids so I find it interesting that they prefer to keep going to the same v expensive places when the same money could bring them anywhere in the world!

I don't know what class l would be considered as we never talk about class in lreland but we have gone back to the same places regularly. There are certain advantages. As soon as you arrive you can hit the ground running and enjoy all your favourite spots without scrambling to discover where everything is. We had a holiday home for years and just loved the area and the children all had their favourite activities and cafes etc. We have sold that but now the kids are grown we have our pet places abroad where we head regularly. We both travelled a lot when we were young and loved it but equally love having our special spots. I can totally understand the sense of belonging that comes from making a place a home from home.

Kids tend to enjoy returning to familiar places rather than constant change. Sometimes it’s a simple case of going to places you know the whole family enjoys.

What a bizarre thread built on a very odd premise that people who don’t conform to the op’s notions are, by definition, wrong.
It must be very tiring monitoring other people’s choices and then getting your knickers in a twist about them.
I suggest that you holiday as you see fit and extend other people the same courtesy.

What about the non UMC people who go to the same campsite or holiday park every year?

People of all classes like familiarity, routine and holidays they know will meet their needs.

So you are unreasonable or not,
So then what? Are you going to tell them off? Stage a protest? Report them to the authorities? What now?
