Should we stick up for ourselves against the US more

All countries have to stand up to the US just like Canadians.

Currently we are being threatened with 100% tariffs due to a 2 % digital tax.

We have millions of pounds of trade deficit with the US - and are one of their major trade surplus partners so they would suffer if we just bought less from them eg in entertainment, music, IT etc

Mark Carney is a brave man but goof for him refusing to cower.

Carney is not choosing to be brave, he is doing what the public in Canada want him to do. He tends to listen to which way the wind is blowing.

As for us here in the UK, I expect our diplomats are doing the best they can.

Nobody is expecting a love actually moment from Andy Burnham

The reason a lot of countries aren't standing up against the US is because they depend on US military technology for thier defence. The RAF are absolutely dependent on US software. Our nuclear subs depend on US technology. Trade and tariffs are negotiated on the dependency. The UK will never criticise the US administration or the war in Iran because we would be defenceless without access to US software.
