To be drinking beer in the sun

Is it really that bad to be sat in a beer garden on this beautiful afternoon?! It’s the weekend, it’s sunny, I love the summer!!! Anyone joining me?!

No im on call for work...jealous.

Besidemyselfwithworry · 22/08/2026 15:50

I’m sat inside I hate the sun and can’t wait for the autumn BUT if it makes you happy then why not.

mindutopia · 22/08/2026 15:54

I don’t drink and I don’t like the sun, so isn’t how I’d choose to spend an afternoon, but it’s fine if you don’t need to be anywhere else and aren’t getting so drunk you can’t look after your children.

Samewrinklesnewname · 22/08/2026 15:55

Enjoy it-I did it last week so it’s your turn this week!

Paddyshanks · 22/08/2026 16:59

I have a high tolerance and my kids are old enough to drink themselves if they choose to do so!

It’s been so nice having a proper summer!!!

Me too! Also have teens. Enjoy! 🍸

Witchergeralt · 22/08/2026 17:00

Yep, just come back and they had Aspall's Cider on tap ...... Bliss 😊

Duckiewasthefirstniceguy · 22/08/2026 17:01

Why would it be ‘that bad’, or bad at all? It’s a fairly standard thing to do on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

I've just put some in the fridge to enjoy after dinner.

Enjoy the sun. We might not get many nice days.

Pollqueen · 22/08/2026 17:03

Enjoying a 🍷in the sun after an afternoon of gardening. Cheers 🍻 OP

HelenaWaiting · 22/08/2026 17:03

What "sun"? (I'm in the far north and it's cloudy with squalls of rain. Wet rain.)

You sound like a barrell of fun 😁

Where are you OP that you are having a proper summer? Or perhaps you thrive in boiling hot weather?

I do thrive on boiling hot weather. I have loved having heatwave after heatwave and being able to wear shorts & mostly leave my umbrella at home since May half term!

Depends on the beer. Some people call Budweiser a beer whereas I would not use it to water a garden of someone who had offended me.

StylesSluttyShorts · 22/08/2026 18:01

I'll be doing so on Tuesday.
I'm off to London for a week so sun!
The weather in Scotland is shit.

Oh god, so do I. I love the heat and being able to wear flip flops, shorts, floaty dresses. Just that feeling of warmth wrapped around you, minimal clothing and light evenings. Dreading the bloody winter. Enjoy your pint!

mamaduckbone · 22/08/2026 18:08

Why would it be bad? Perfect way to spend a sunny Saturday. That’s where I was this afternoon (lovely local
tap room, walked there with Dh and teenage/young adult dcs and ds1 gf. Should have left the grumpy teen at home but that’s a different issue!)

mamaduckbone · 22/08/2026 18:10

I also thrive on sunshine op. Dreading the winter. There’s a bit of a nip in the air here now but still been a lovely sunny afternoon. I’m now in the garden, still in a t-shirt.

I thought this was going to be:

“AIBU to be drinking in the sun …when DP is a recovering alcoholic… when my 5 month old is asleep upstairs … in my neighbour’s garden when they are on holiday” 😂

not “AIBU … to be doing a pretty standard and uneventful thing” sorry OP but 😂

Also enjoy 🍸☀️

😂 I might be making this up but I think this may have been a post on here

SeriouslyAreYouSure · 22/08/2026 18:21

I still am & have been since about 3!!!

but... I've only had lattes & 0%Estrella& read my book.

I have several health conditions that have made the past eight week heat wave unbearable for me and all I have done is try to stay in air-conditioned spaces and keep my house as cool as possible.

This is the first day that I have found it nice to be outside enjoying summer, I fully intend to do the same tomorrow as it may be my only two days of summer🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️

I love autumn & winter, but after I've had a nice summer!!

however, with how ill the heat wave made me, I won't be complaining about the cold the rain or anything else this autumn or winter !

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 22/08/2026 18:37

I’m in Greece so I’m the sun enjoying a few drinks every day. Enjoy OP.

I am truly glad that some people enjoy it. Personally I shrivel up like a lettuce leaf and need rain to recover!
