Would a Beautifect Mini be a disappointing birthday present if empty?

Thinking of buying the beautifect mini for a birthday present for D.d. My D.h thinks its expensive for what it is and that it would be shit to just receive it empty so therefore would need to spend more money filling it. What do you think? Dd is really into makeup and already has a styl pro but I thought the beautifect is a bit more grown up and luxury, just thought it was a nice idea for a big birthday. Would it be shit to receive it empty? It cost £150 for the mini one

It looks like a big rip off.

This post feels like a plug for a cheap looking product none of us have heard of

If that's the case it hasn't gone well Grin

Take her clothes shopping?
A theatre show?
City break in the uk?
My teens love getting money!

What is a ' styl pro '

Google thinks it may be a neck and face smoother but your daughter is 15, so I actually went onto the website and guess you are referring to the original make up brush cleaner @£30

big difference between a make up brush cleaner at £30 and a plastic make up box/bag at £150

indeed I fail to see the relevance

unless it's sticking to a ' brand ' she already owns ?

Not sure why they are so expensive, the mirror inside is meant to be really good?

😂 is it a magic mirror!

Anarchy99 · 18/08/2026 23:29

Just looked it up - fair play to the people marketing it - I wish I could sell something like that for such an obscene sum of money.

So it’s a make up box? And a make up bag? If that’s all she’s into then I guess you could buy her the bag.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 18/08/2026 23:34

Oh dear

you had missed two words off ' styl pro ' those being ' beauty pod '

so your dd already has a plastic beauty box ( pod )

why would you want to spend £150 on another ?

bunnypenny · 18/08/2026 23:36

Mate….. cmon….. surely you know you’re being had at those prices for a mirror that’s supposed to be really good….

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 18/08/2026 23:37

I’m sure she’d much rather spend £150 on make up than somewhere to put the make up.

She already has the styl pro pod thing but its massive it looks small online but it's really big. We are just back from holiday and she took all her makeup in a pedal bin liner as the styl pod would have been too big to take with us, so this was just an idea. Obviously not a very good one🙈

I keep getting tempted by the big one. I was hoping that this thread was going to be lots of posters saying it’s amazing! I’m obviously just a marketing persons dream 🤦‍♀️

My DH bought the larger one for me for Christmas. Total rip off. Can get similar for £20 on amazon. I sent it back (with agreement from DH). I couldn't believe how expensive it was!

Maybe spend the £s on a selection of things from Sephora instead?

A vanity case would be better.

UhOhRatPoo · 19/08/2026 00:07

Given what you say about your daughter transporting her makeup in a bin liner I think a travel beauty box would be a lovely idea, but unless she is very brand-conscious I am sure you could get something very similar for a much more reasonable price.

Or, if she is not actually a vegan, you might even find something leather but un-branded for the same price. Plastic bags and travel items always go shabby very quickly “vegan leather” is such bullshit.

Huckleberries · 19/08/2026 00:14

@LouXx12 what made you think about this?

I saw something similar on QVC and they were saying how much you could pay… I thought they were talking rubbish, but now I see what the comparison is

I love my beauty stuff, but for goodness sake, unless you are a billionaire, this is a total waste of money! You could buy your DD all sorts of lovely things for that money!

and how good can a mirror be, ultimately it’s a mirror!

Goot · 19/08/2026 00:15

Could you not just get a travel make up case that’s cheaper?

Edited

It was the first that popped up on Google, and I thought she would quite like the mirror 🤷‍♀️ it is expensive but she doesnt want anything so to me it would be a waste to give her 150 pounds that she would just waste on Coffees and food when she goes out with her friends

@LouXx12 well there must be a compromise with a nice present, there are lots of make-up cases to choose from.

And also, it’s nice for her to have money to spend with her friends, isn’t it? And she can treat them for her birthday.

EleanorMc67 · 19/08/2026 00:44

If she's really into her make-up, what about a beauty subscription for a few months? Though I know I'd find that I didn't like certain things (I'm quite specific with the colours I wear). So it depends on if she's at the stage where she loves to try anything & everything?

Alternatively, if it's the kind of thing you might like to do together - a beauty makeover & then afternoon tea?
