Hi everyone

Im not sure if im overreacting because im heavily pregnant or if this would annoy anyone

New neighbours moved in about 3 or 4 weeks ago and ever since then its just been completely different here. Before that it was actually a really quiet street, everyone mostly kept themselves to themselves and you hardly heard anything

The thing is I dont actually know who lives there because there always seems to be different people coming and going. Ive seen 2 men there the most but theres loads of other people in and out all the time so I genuinely dont know who actually lives there

Ive never spoken to them so this isnt because weve fallen out or anything

Last Saturday they had people round and I got woken up about 5.30 in the morning by someone outside shouting "call the police" over and over. I rang because I didnt know what was going on and the police came but they werent there for that long before they left

Since then its just been constant noise. Doors slamming, people outside talking late at night, cars pulling up, people laughing really loudly. It feels like theres always something going on

Im due in about 4 weeks now and its making me worry about bringing a newborn home. Im not expecting complete silence because obviously people are allowed to live their lives but this just feels really different to how its always been

I dont want to be that neighbour who complains over nothing and maybe im just being over sencitive because im pregnant, but its making me feel quite stressed

AIBU to already be worried about this or would you be aswell?

I have neighbours like this, coming and going at all times. I can never tell who actually lives there. It’s so annoying.

Outwiththenorm · 16/08/2026 15:08

Neighbours who require the police to be called within their first week of living there? I have never lived beside anyone who required this so the Op is clearly not overreacting.

Well I did because the poor woman's ex found out where she'd moved to, and beat the shit out of her.

OP, it's horrible living near a very noisy household and can make you constantly feel on edge.

No advice but lots of sympathy 💐

OrangeFlower14 · 16/08/2026 16:06

Has it gone on air bnb check listing for your area

Gettingbysomehow · 16/08/2026 16:10

Im so sorry OP its horrendous when this happens.
My little cul de sac was an oasis of peace and then my worst nightmare happened and a smoker moved in next door.
He stayed up all night chain smoking in the room next to my bedroom and my whole house stank like an ashtray.
It would keep me awake all night and id be shattered for work next day.
In the end I went round there and had it out with him and he smokes in the garden now. His wife doesnt like neighbour aggro.
I honestly thought Id have to move.

Herenowatbroad · 16/08/2026 16:16

I think maybe you are in hyper sensitive mode and presumably spending a huge amount of time at home as maternity leave started? hence hearing all the day time comings and goings

Tabbitha · 16/08/2026 16:17

TreadlngWater · 16/08/2026 15:09

Yeah theyre next door unfortunately

I keep hoping it was just because theyve only recently moved in and everythings a bit hectic but it doesnt seem to be settling down

I havent complained because I genuinely dont want to start problems with people I have to live next to, especially when im about to have a baby

Its more the amount of different people coming and going thats making me uneasy than anything else. It never seems to be the same people there apart from the 2 men I keep seeing

Maybe it will calm down, I really hope it does because before they moved in it was honestly such a quiet street

Probably in the drug trade no doubt. Any hoodies on scooters by chance?

Herenowatbroad · 16/08/2026 16:18

Op I recall your other thread… you have much much much much bigger things to worry about than your neighbours

FaceIt · 16/08/2026 16:18

Do you think they might be dealing, hence lots of different people turning up?

They themselves could be druggies, as druggies are often up all night and asleep during the day.

I wondered this.

TreadlngWater · 16/08/2026 16:21

They are noisy aswell, it’s not just the visitors. Theres been a lot of doors slamming, people standing outside talking late at night and cars pulling up at all sorts of times

I know people are allowed visitors and I wouldnt expect complete silence, thats not really what im saying

Im in a housing association house if that makes any difference

Maybe I am a bit more aware of everything because im on maternity leave now and at home more, I can accept that. But even my older children have said theres been a lot more noise recently and they obviously dont spend all day in the house

Im just hoping it settles down because before they moved in it really was a quiet street and ive never had any issues living here before

The only time I lived next door to people who had people coming and going the whole time was when I lived next door to a drug dealer. It was very unpleasant and scary too. I also didn't know who lived there. I hope that's not the case for you because the situation with my neighbours ended in violence; but it was a very rough area, which yours doesn't sound like.

Ponderingwindow · 16/08/2026 16:28

I would get a ring doorbell at minimum. If you have a garden, get cameras for other angles as well. We have a good, quiet neighborhood, but our property is still covered.

You do need to spend the time making sure that you are only covering your own property, but it’s not difficult.

Your description is worrisome. Hopefully it is just settling in, but a bit of security doesn’t hurt.

The police issue, though. Also the screaming in the early hours.

Op, I get it. I don't know if you're next door to them (doesn't sound like it) but I've had a very noisy neighbour since we all moved into our new build estate (all at the same time) 5 years ago. She's consistently been noisy on a daily basis. She doesn't work and rarely leaves the house. If it's not her yappy dog it's her techno music absolutely blasting. She has every door and window open. No neighbour on her other side so it's just us who suffer. I don't even play music at home because I don't want to annoy anyone.

She was so bad last night that we actually had to go and stay with family an hour away. I was screaming at her from my garden to stop, and she just laughed. She's mid 50s and craves attention desperately. I think she just enjoys the attention which comes from pissing everyone off around her. Reporting is an option but we're going to sell because of her and don't want to declare it. She did have neighbours on the other side but they're trying to sell and have moved out. (suspect they can't shift the house because of her, as absolutely everyone else in the development who is selling have sold within a few months).

Op, I got a Ring bell, and I'd rather have it than not, but it has also made me a nervous wreck. I'm constantly checking it. I am a naturally anxious person though.

As others have said, hopefully it will settle soon and it's just new neighbour visitor noise. The people down the road have just had a conservatory built and they've got loads of friends in and out all day.

I wrote about my druggy noisy dv neighbours yesterday, music so loud it was distorted 7pm-7am for a year. I declared everything to the estate agent and the buyer couldn’t have cared less. It’s possible. Does she own? If she rents or is HA, I’d definitely speak to (complain endlessly!) to the HA/landlord.

Frendslikethese · 16/08/2026 16:40

Speak to your housing officer, they should be doing a tenancy check for new tenants and should be informed about the antics.

Thank you.

She is shared ownership so yes actually I could approach her landlord for the rent portion of the house. Great idea! 🩷

Yeah, this. If course it being an HA house makes a difference.

This happened to a former colleague. She bought shared ownership and they moved the wife and kids of a drug dealer next door. He turned up daily for about 6 months (even though he wasn't meant to contact her) and then someone killed him.

Venusunbroken · 16/08/2026 16:48

This is peak mumsnet, worried woman, responses, they are druggies or it’s a brothel. It’s ludicrous.

What’s your thoughts?

CarrieOakie · 16/08/2026 17:01

have you been round? to see how they are settling in? that way you'd find out who actually lives in the property

parkezvous · 16/08/2026 17:04

I hear you OP. I live in a really quiet lovely close. New neighbour moved in and she’s loud, parks her car in the close (she has a drive for 3 cars!) blocks access for bins/others drives, loud music at random times. It’s just really upset the equilibrium of the close. Sadly there are some selfish people around who really don’t give a shit about others!

Not sure I would want to do that if heavily pregnant tbh I wouldn't feel safe. It all sounds dodgy as duck.

Pinkflamingo10 · 16/08/2026 17:10

People coming and going at night every night =drug dealing or brothel

Shadesofscarlett · 16/08/2026 17:11

i recommend eufy doorbell - no subscription. can add extra cameras too

LauritaEvita · 16/08/2026 17:28

DisforDarkChocolate · 16/08/2026 15:50

Are you sure it's not a brothel?

This was my first thought unfortunately. This happened to my friend in suburban Manchester in a street they’d happily lived in for 20 years. Brothel slyly opened next door and although nothing happened to them directly (eg. No break ins, no confrontations with the people coming and going), the comings and goings at all hours was a nuisance and they were unsettled by constantly rotating strangers next door (attached terraced house so very close quarters).

That’s exactly what it sounds like. Only someone who’s lived a very sheltered life would dismiss this as a possibility.
